In August 1983, in Chadiza District, Zambia, an ordinary visit between two friends would become the beginning of a murder investigation.

Andereya Mwanza accepted a drink of kachasu from Abel Banda. By the following day, Mwanza was dead.

What followed was an investigation that uncovered evidence of pesticide poisoning, raised difficult questions and eventually led to a murder conviction.

As the story unfolds, another name enters the investigation, adding another layer to an already disturbing case.

In this episode of Crime Files Zambia, we revisit the events surrounding Andereya Mwanza's death, the evidence presented in court and the Supreme Court's eventual decision.

A story about trust, betrayal, and a drink that would have devastating consequences.
