Crime Scene Vienna | Elfriede Blauensteiner: The Black Widow
What if the person you trusted most was hiding a deadly secret?
In this episode of Crime Scene Vienna, we explore the chilling case of Elfriede Blauensteiner, one of Austria’s most notorious female serial killers, known as the “Black Widow.” Behind an ordinary appearance lay a case that shocked the nation and raised disturbing questions about trust, greed, and deception.
Her victims were often elderly men who trusted her completely. But behind this apparent trust lay a disturbing pattern: Blauensteiner secretly mixed medication into her victims’ food and drinks, including warm milk and coffee. While they had no reason to suspect her, their deaths could bring her financial benefits through inheritances and gifts.
But how did she manage to deceive those around her? What finally exposed her crimes? And how many victims were there really?
We take a closer look at Blauensteiner’s background, her victims, the investigations, and the events that ultimately brought her to justice. Although she was convicted of three murders and sentenced to life imprisonment, suspicions surrounding other deaths left unanswered questions. The full extent of her crimes may never be known.
One woman. Multiple suspicious deaths. A shocking case that continues to fascinate and disturb to this day.
