It's a cold June night in Samford, QLD, Australia, 1913, and father of five James Mitchell is out looking for his daughter, Ivy, who hadn't returned from a play date with her friend. Her friend lived on a neighbouring farm and Ivy had made the short walk home many times beforehand, so her father was worried that she had not returned home. Two sets of footprints led James to the local school and there, hidden in the scrub and winter cold, lay the body of his precious daughter who had been brutally murdered.

Ivy's killer is quickly identified, charged and convicted and he is soon hanging from a noose in Boggo Road Jail. Unbeknownst to him at the time, he would be the last man to be hanged in the state, and unbeknownst to locals and cellmates, he would be the oldest ghost said to haunt the jail, which still stands today.

On the 2nd February, 1986, nurse Anita Cobby, finished work for the day and had dinner with friends. At around 9pm that night, her friend dropped her off at Central Station so she could make her way home. Anita waved goodbye to her friend and boarded a train bound for Blacktown, NSW. It would be the last time her friend would see her alive. 

What would follow would see Anita subjected to hours of violence and sexual assault before being killed in an isolated paddock not too far from Blacktown train station, where she was headed. The men who committed this heinous crime were nothing short of pure evil and when the final hours of Anita's life came to light, it prompted a rare reaction from the sentencing judge.

Sydney, NSW, 1961 and the body of a man is found stabbed to death in a public bath, his genitals cut clean off and thrown into Sydney Harbour.

What followed after this grim discovery was only the beginning for the serial killer the media quickly dubbed 'The Mutilator' and left 3 more men dead, genitals removed on all but one, and police at a loss as to who the killer was, until the killer was identified....but not in a conventional or normal way. He was identified after he was buried, but had the misfortune to bump into a shocked ex collegue after his funeral. The headline 'The Case of the Walking Corpse' soon followed and brought this sadistic killer's undoing.
