For this month's episode of the Crimes Without Conviction podcast, KUAM's Sabrina Salas Matanane takes you back to 1987 to revisit the heinous murder of 16-year-old Jennifer Mesa. While the case remains unsolved, Sabrina talks with former detectives who responded to the homicide. 34 years later, the matter continues to haunt those who sought to bring justice to the family, as well as the many island residents who loved the young girl.
Before he was the Chief of Police, Steve Ignacio spent several years as an investigator with the Guam Police Department's Criminal Investigation Section. He recalls the afternoon he received a phone call to respond to a neighborhood in Yigo to assist with the search for a 4-year-old girl named D'anna Olley. For several hours police scoured the Marianas Terrace neighborhood until they made a shocking discovery.
