  • Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast: Retired Police Chief Nick Metz and his wife Dr. Sara Metz - Creators of CODE4 Counseling

Hello everyone and welcome back to the show. Thank YOU for the continuing support for me and this great and powerful show. YOU are the reason this podcast is Top Ranked. Please give us a 5-Star Rating and Review on Apple Podcasts.

A big shout out and THANK YOU to all the brave men and women who serve in the Criminal Justice Field. Ignore all the negativity against you and the great law enforcement profession. Every law enforcement organization has challenges. They also have many priorities, goals and objectives. A top priority for ALL criminal justice organizations should be the mental health and wellness of the brave men and women who put on a uniform and go out and serve. This priority STARTS AT THE TOP. If senior law enforcement executives are not supportive of mental health and wellness, then everyone in the organization suffers.

I am so honored to have my next guests on the show. Retired Police Chief Nick Metz and his wife Dr. Sara Metz.

    Dr. Sara Metz

For the past twelve years, Dr. Sara Metz has developed a deep passion for working with emergency responders and their families. A licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Metz specializes in crisis intervention, wellness program development, and peer support supervision.

Dr. Metz’s dedication for helping clients and agencies find healthy ways to manage mental health comes from her direct experience as a responder at many critical incidents. Embedded in the emergency responder culture, she understands the intricacies of work/life balance and the unique sense of humor that accompanies the work. She’ll “call it as she sees it” without judgment, in a laid-back, low stakes environment.

Dr. Metz recently created a Master’s in Emergency Responder & Military Psychology at CSU Global.  This is the first and only program of its kind that trains future culturally competent counselors to assist responder / military personnel, and their families.  For more information in how you can become a counselor, click on the CSU Global link below.

    Nick Metz

Nick is a 36-year law enforcement veteran who has served two major city police agencies.  Most recently, Nick was Chief of Police for the Aurora (CO) Police Department from which he retired January 1, 2020, after five years of service.  It was in Aurora that he oversaw over 1000 law enforcement personnel in an incredibly diverse population of almost 400,000.

Prior to becoming Chief in Aurora, Nick spent 31 years with the Seattle Police Department where he worked Patrol and many different specialty assignments and rose to the rank of Deputy Chief (number 2 to the Chief of Police).  As an Assistant Chief, he earned a medal of valor for his role in assisting in the apprehension of an armed suspect who shot a bus driver and attempted to drive off with a bus full of passengers.

Nick has had a long passion in caring for First Responders where he created full time wellness units in both Seattle and Aurora.  He has assisted in countless programs and training centered around promoting mental health wellness for First Responders and their families.

They have mobile threat detection that fits in the palm of YOUR hand that can detect illicit drugs, explosives and now COVID-19. Check out their link at www.cjevolution.com

What are your limiting beliefs? What are you thinking that is holding you back? Now, I don't want you to linger in that mindset, but I want you to be aware. The most powerful two words are I AM. I AM great. I AM powerful. I AM successful. Get into the habit of saying positive affirmations to yourself every day.

I was recently talking to a friend who wants to exit the law enforcement profession and he told me he is scared because he doesn't think he has any talents or skills to offer the private sector.  That is a mindset, and your mindset is 100% up to you. If you are living the life of your dreams right now and are happy then I am very happy for you. But, I know the majority of you are NOT.

Life transformations and changes will take place all the time. You can't control what you can't control. However, you CAN control how you react. I am going through a transformation right in my life. I call it a rebirth. I know my future is filled with success and happiness.

    Are you ready?

    YOUR REBIRTH STARTS NOW.

I hope you have a great and amazing day. Stay tuned for more great guests on The Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast.

  • Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast: Microcast Monday - When You Start Your Day What are You Thinking About?

Hello everyone and welcome back to Microcast Monday. Short bursts of motivation and inspiration designed to get you on the right path for your day and week. Thank you all for the support for this amazing show and myself. I do appreciate YOU and I am grateful for YOU.

A big shout out of thanks and appreciation for our brave men and women who are working in the Criminal Justice Field. It's a very difficult environment, but everyday you go out and serve honorably and bravely. Remember you are honored, cherished and loved. Keep up the great work.

When you get up in the morning what are you thinking about? Are your thoughts focused on the negative? Are you focused on your anxiety or stress? Are you worried about money and how you are going to pay the bills? Or, are you focused on the positive in your life? Are you grateful?

When you start your day off in the negative, there is a pretty good chance you are going to remain in that mindset for the duration of the day #mindset.  We have all stubbed our toe(s) at one point or another right? Did that experience send you in a tail spin for the rest of the day? I know it has for me in the past. But, you don't have to stay in that mindset. You have the power.

Remember YOU control your thoughts. Your mind is a garden. What you PLANT in your mind will grow. Before you get out of bed I want you to start thinking about the positive in your life. I want you to be grateful. Even if your life sucks right now.

This simple act WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

You are going to love my next guest Rod Khleif. Rod has made a lot of money in real estate over the years. He also lost 50 MILLION DOLLARS in 2008. But he GAINED IT ALL BACK. Do you want to know how?

MINDSET - YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING WITH THE PROPER MINDSET

    An amazing and informative show

    Rod says the following:

I immigrated to the US when I was six. We struggled to get by. I had to wear clothes from the Goodwill and eat expired food because that’s all we could afford. I decided when I was 18 that I was going to do real estate. Fast forward, and I've now personally owned and managed over 2,000 homes and apartment buildings. I'm host of the Top-ranked Real Estate Investment Podcast; “The Lifetime CashFlow Through Real Estate Investing Podcast" with more than 7,500,000 downloads. I'm also author of “How to Create Lifetime CashFlow Through Multifamily Properties” considered to be an essential “textbook” for aspiring and experienced multifamily investors. I'm passionate about real estate, business, life, success and giving back.

I've combined my passion for real estate investing and personal development coaching with my personal philosophy of goal setting, envisioning, and manifesting success to train and coach people that want to escape the rat race.

    Experience:

I started out buying houses in Denver in the 80's and ended up with over 500 single family homes there in a buy and hold strategy. I also had some apartment complexes. I then bought over 200 houses in Memphis. I then bought over 1,300 along the gulf coast of Florida along with some apartment complexes. I no longer love single family investing.

My focus is now multifamily. I love talking and educating people about multifamily real estate investing one on one, as a coach, or through my podcast.

Hello everyone and welcome back to the show. The CJEvolution Podcast is Top Ranked because of YOU, the listener and supporter. Thank YOU very much. Please give us that 5-Star Rating and Review on Apple Podcasts.

A big shout out and thank you to ALL the criminal justice professionals out there working in a very dangerous and uncertain environment. Remember you are HONORED, CHERISHED and above all you are LOVED. Keep up the great work.

My next guest is going to motivate and inspire you. Brock Bevell is living proof that anyone, including YOU, can overcome every obstacle life throws at you.

Brock is a husband and father of 7 Children. He is a recovery coach and an advocate for those struggling with addiction. Brock has over 11 years of sobriety and 6.5 years working 1 on 1 with men and women who struggle with addiction.

In 2001, while working as a Police Officer, Brock was involved in an accident where a mom was prostituting her daughter out for sex in exchange for drugs. During the incident, Brock was run over and sustained notable injuries to his ankle and knee.

The injuries and surgeries from the accident led Brock on an extensive addiction to opioids. He openly shares his point of view of the life of an undercover cop, who dedicated his life to the often dangerous and clandestine world of informants, drug dealers, and addicts. While working as a police officer he shares his perception of those who suffer from addiction and alcoholism.

On the flip side, Brock didn’t intend to become a drug addict, but nonetheless found himself in a knock down drag out battle with opioid addiction, even turning to selling narcotics to feed his growing and out of control addiction.

The kicker you ask? The addict turned dealer and the thrill-seeking undercover cop is the same person – and that’s just the start of what is genuinely an incredible story of a man who at one point has to make the ultimate split-second decision as a police officer, finds himself growing to hate the addicts and dealers he is chasing, and ultimately becomes one himself.

Brock does indeed persevere and now over eleven years sober, shares his amazing story of high drama, intrigue and most importantly hope with Chasing the Vase!

    A great and powerful interview.
