I love talking to entrepreneurs, especially those entrepreneurs who have served in the law enforcement field like my next great guest, Bryan Selzer.  He is a retired Police Sergeant and the CEO and Founder of LEFTA Systems.

LEFTA Systems, a Florida-based company specializing in software to address the needs of law enforcement and other first responders, was the result. Bryan states “I didn’t know much about computers back then, but I knew a lot about the challenges of training new recruits, use of force incidents, monitoring certifications, and addressing a political environment quick to criticize.”

Bryan and I talk about problems facing law enforcement as well as some solutions forward. We also talk about going for your dreams, starting that business you have been talking about and of course LEFTA Systems.

Welcome back to Microcast Monday. Remember Monday's are great days. It's day to reset. Reset in the right direction with a brand new day and a brand new week.

As we all reflect on this difficult year, I want you to dig deep into with your happiness. Are you happy? If yes, then great. If not why? Remember that YOU control your happiness. Not anyone else. Don't give that power away. Why would you? So many people look to alternatives for happiness and they don't realize that they have all the power. Your mind is powerful. Your mind is a magnet. Your thoughts will manifest into reality. If you are unhappy, don't focus on what is bringing you unhappiness. Stop giving it energy. Rather, focus on people, places, memories etc. that MAKE YOU HAPPY.

Also, decide to be happy rather than being right. Sometimes a friend, spouse or child might do something wrong, make a mistake etc. Don't focus on what they did wrong or the fact you were right. Just be happy. You can't control everything, but you can control your thoughts and how you react to life.

As you go throughout the day, practice being happy. Remember you have control over every aspect of your life.

I have had the great pleasure to talk to amazing and successful people over the years and they all share a lot of similarities. One of those, is patience. They all practice it and have said that the art of patience is a critical component to their success. We live in a world of where patience is lacking. We live in a world where we want things to happen RIGHT NOW. But, that is not reality and that is not going to bring you want you want, and need, in your life. Remember that patience is a virtue. Remember showing up consistently over time is the path to success.

Become more patient today. Stay on your success path and show up consistently.

I hope you have a great day, week and month. Reach out to me. I would love to hear from you.

"Life is about evolving. Don't stay in a situation that's not helping you grow mentally, spiritually and emotionally. "

Are you evolving? if you are great, if you are not then WHY NOT? Life is short my friends and before you know it it's done. You have to continue to evolve. This will ensure your success in life, personally and professionally. Some key point in EVOLVE.

1) Elevate - You have to elevate your thinking. Your old thinking won't cut it. It never has. Change your thinking.

2) Visualize - Visualization is key. You have to visualize what you want and where you want to be.

3) Others - Who you surround yourself with will be the key to your success or your failure - Who are you surrounding yourself with?

4) Love (Your life)  - Look, if you don't love your life and yourself how do you expect to love anyone or anything else?

5) Victory - Celebrate your victories everyday. Don't think you have any? YOU DO! Your alive right? That is a victory and a blessing.

6) Everyday (Be your best) - Bring your best self to life everyday and you will live a better life.

Go out and conquer your day and week.

I am so excited to have my next guest on the show. Rodger Ruge stopped by and Rodger says the following. “Employee assistance, peer support and chaplaincy programs are failing because they are not used to their full potential. These traditional programs have never successfully addressed the stigma of suspicion and “career suicide” that using those services can create. Rodger created HeroTalk which offers a way for First Responders to take back control of their personal and professional lives by empowering real-world solutions that you, The Hero Community, can put into daily practice. They are about helping you build a level of resiliency that goes beyond mere survival, they help you THRIVE.”

In his previous life he was a 20 year, in the trenches, law enforcement veteran and survivor of post-traumatic stress. I’ve done just about every job possible in a law enforcement career…patrol, detective, street crimes, gang enforcement, mentoring, coaching, training management, motors and SWAT.

Rodger is also a podcast of the successful show, HeroTalk.org. Building resiliency for the First Responder Hero Community through my podcast, HeroTalk.org, my Life Coaching practice and my Mindfulness and Resiliency courses for First Responders.

Such a great show with Rodger Ruge.
