"His talent, however, has started gaining notice further afield. Recently, psychiatrists, neuroscientists, and the military have studied his methods for what they reveal about the nature of human attention."
"Teller, a good friend of Robbins’s, believes that widespread recognition is only a matter of time. “The popularity of crime as a sort of romantic thing in America is profoundly significant, and Apollo is tapping into that,” he told me. “If you think about it, magic itself has many of the hallmarks of criminal activity: You lie, you cheat, you try not to get caught—but it’s on a stage, it has a proscenium around it. When Apollo walks onstage, there’s a sense that he might have one foot outside the proscenium. He takes a low crime and turns it into an art form.”

Follow up- I can't help compare America's fascination with crime- with financial fraud with known ponzis and the fact that it doesn't deter many people, in fact it is an attraction. Even if you know it's a scam, people will join in (pump and dumps) because they think they won't be the patsy and will actually benefit.
Beyond financial deception, there are other kinds of deception- like climate catastrophism, the threat of white supremacy and that America is structurally racist towards non whites. I lump these thing in with deception and fraud. The threat of white supremacy is just like the threat of climate change catastrophism.
You know, just like a ponzi scheme is illegal by the way of the inducer into the scheme, an inducer into the climate catastrophe alarmism or the biggest threat is white supremacy is also fraudulent inducement if money is extracted to go into these industries.. with the exception that they are 'charities' and it isn't necessarily an 'investment.' Although often the money flows to lobbyists to effect or inact policy that helps that people that donated to the charities.-- so it is like an investment - just round about so it is obfuscated. Multiple things going on here, the people that get advantage from policies lobbied by environmental orgs and those that receive no benefit, but have been conned into believing in environmental catastrophism or the threat of white supremacy or that america is systemically racist. How do determine what is an opinion but just wrong, what is stated as fact, but is wrong, what is speculative, what is fraud, what is free speech?
