Critics w/o Credentials

In fitting fashion, the group decided that we would finish this year’s Spooky Extravaganza with a bang by sharing our thoughts on the final installment in the Halloween franchise (for now) - ”Halloween Ends.”

Category: Top Shelf Horror

Film: Eraserhead

In the penultimate episode of The Spooky Extravaganza, Kevin takes this category to an entirely new level....downwards. What proves to be an incredibly interesting category, gives way to a controversial pick that many try to understand unsuccessfully. Still, the discussion manages to be one of the group’s best.

Category: Bite Me!

Film: Horrors of Dracula

James serves up a Hammer Productions special with Horrors of Dracula featuring some very famous actors that had to start their careers somewhere. In this case, it is through the 70s British take on the iconic vampire.

Category: Chris Hates to Read (subtitled horror)

Film: The Medium (2021)

With a category that has now become a mainstay of the Spooky Extravaganza, subtitled horror has always delivered interesting films and this year is no exception thanks to Nicole’s choice.

Categories: Bloody Hilarious/Slay My Name

Films: Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky

In this episode, it was decided that you get a twofer - Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky in one podcast episode. Both Kevin and Miguel take center stage in this one as they colluded with one another to get these on this year’s watchlist.

Category: Gonna Get That Body (Demonic Possession)

Film: Demons

There are few things that are automatic in this world; crying at Forrest Gump, laughing at videos of people falling down, and Sam Howard coming up clutch with a pick for the Spooky Extravaganza. This year is no different as Mr. Howard pulls a Giallo film from the top shelf for all to enjoy.

Category - Don’t Ghost Me Bro

Film - I Still Know What You Did Last Summer

From the far reaches of the interweb and the use of a proxy bidder, Taylor selects this year’s ghost(ish) movie by choosing a sequel in a franchise that wishes it could’ve been as cool as Scream in its day.

Category - Dried Bat Wings/Eye of Newt

Film - Rabid Grannies

With such a fancy title, you’d think there would be an equally fancy movie to follow for the category centering on witches. SPOILER ALERT - there isn’t. Sam Howard gives us a glimpse into his childhood wandering the aisles of Family Video with this movie and frankly, we were all terrified of him (not the movie)!

Chris and Kevin rejoin after some time away to finally share their feelings on the She-Hulk finale and what lies ahead for the character. Chris doubles down on the finales with Welcome to Wrexham and Rings of Power’s close. Kevin shares his surprise and love for the Chucky TV series and how it’s building something special with its lore. Lastly, Chris speaks on Black Adam’s entertainment value and Kevin survives seeing Terrifier 2 in theaters.

Chloe won this category and chose a film from 1991 which lead to a great discussion over the messaging of what can easily be perceived as a poorly aged thriller, but in fact, has a lot more to say about current events that are relevant just as much today as they were several decades ago...........with the exception of the leather daddy.

Category - Horror from Your Birth Year

Film - The People Under the Stairs
