For Art Stories: Student Voices on the Crocker Collection, forty students in Assistant Professor, Mya Dosch’s US and Caribbean Art: Race and Representation class worked in teams to research and develop polyphonic audio guides about contemporary artworks by women, artists of color, and queer artists in the Museum’s permanent collection.
In this audio guide, students from Sacramento State explore Kehinde Wiley’s artwork, "Portrait of Simon George II.” The technique of street casting, Wiley’s early memories of art museums, and his penchant for repurposing the art historical canon round out an informative audible experience.
