Ballad on the edge of a precipice surrounded by the soft twilight of the candles...
This is a live recording from the hall of "Palazzo Rainone", a wonderful 15th century palace located in the historical center of a peacefull city, S. Agata dei Goti, situated on the volcanic cliffs northeast of Naples, Italy. The location was conducive to the creation of this unique and vibrant work. Some parts of this work are retained completely in digital, leaving unchanged the original quality, thus maximizing uniform and dynamic listening.
Treas is a trio of Neapolitan musicians: Giosue' Grassia plays the piano, Maurizio Chiantone the double-bass and Maurizio Martusciello the drums and electro-acoustic instruments. Although each has unique training and experiences, their collective creativity is effectively expressed in this their first work. Since 1980, their individual training has been enriched by several collaborations including live performances and recordings with numerous respected musicians such as Michiko Hirayama, Dagmar Krausf, Jean Marc Montera, Bruno Tommaso, Steve Lacy and Glenn Ferris. Building on these experiences and their own interactions, Treas is committed to the achievement of creative music as represented in this first CD.
Palazzo Rainone contributed to the expressive creativity of the musicians and the exploration of potential ideas, culminating in the realization of various and extemporaneous forms of expression. In this first recording titled ”Ballata sull’orlo di un precipizio” part of the effort has been devoted to explore all possible timbres of the acustic instruments and their potentiality, which allowed Treas to surpass the expressive borders of the instruments themselves.
