What does a disciple do? By definition, a disciple is someone who follows a teacher, learning their skills until they became just as masterful. In John chapter 7 Jesus' brothers give an example of what a disciple is not. When it is time to attend the Feast of Tabernacles, Jesus' brothers hoped to cash in on some of the fame that was spreading. Hoping that the festival would allow some of Jesus' notoriety to dust off on them, they urged Jesus to attend so people would see Him. He tells them to go but that He is staying because His time had not yet come. Jesus knew that His brothers were searching for their own fame, and not attending the festival to remember God's goodness and faithfulness to His people. A true disciple is one that seeks to become as Christ for the purpose of making much of what God has done and wants to do in the lives of all who would respond. Jesus is the example for the believer, to become about God's kingdom in ALL actions.
