Christianity was unique in the way it taught the inherent dignity and worth in each and every person. Since we are created by God, we are all deserving of honor. Love practices the honor it preaches.

Pride causes us to highlight ourselves, pushing people away, or to hide ourselves, presenting a "fake me" to the world. Pride is opposed to love, but a new perspective can change things.

We love it when people celebrate our wins wholeheartedly, but envy often gets in the way. When we bring our problems with envy to the right place, we find that our capacity to love others and be loved grows. Love is built to celebrate.

Helping others when a need appears is part of what it means to love people well. Kindness is a powerful thing and opens doors for God's love to connect people to him.

In a one-click culture, no one likes to wait. But going at someone else's pace with grace is the pathway toward loving those around us and helping them grow.

All of us have marks that point to key parts of our identity. Jesus said his followers would be marked by their love for each other, and his best friend pointed out that it's impossible for us to wear the name of Jesus without loving others.

The dare from Jesus to us is that we would “come, follow him.” Jesus understood that for many people the best way to enter into God’s kingdom was to experience it first. You can follow before you believe.

Jesus made it a regular habit to honor and esteem those who were often the recipients of dishonor from others. The reason we believe in value, dignity, and worth for all people is directly correlated to Jesus building a movement based on honor for all people.

Predicting what’s going to happen this evening or afternoon is hard. Predicting the characteristics of the Son of God centuries before he would arrive on the scene isn’t just hard; it’s impossible. Yet that’s exactly what the Old Testament does with Jesus.
