John, as a eye witness and disciple of Jesus was confident in Jesus ability to save him and others. He believed we can know we have a saving faith. He also warns of a sin that's end would eventually result in eternal death and separation from Jesus.

Can you imagine a love, so great, that it could destroy all fear? In 1 John 4:7-21, we find that love revealed and explained. God's love is far beyond what we can fully comprehend. The fuller we grasp it the more transformative it will be upon our lives, family, friends, and the world.

We are bombarded by more messages, with limitless access to information, than ever before. There are few spiritual disciplines more critical today than discernment. We have a crisis among professing Christians regarding understanding and knowledge of the Bible, much less how to live in a consistently Christian way. 1 John 4:1-6, gives us a warning to "test the spirits," being careful to not believe everything we hear.

This Sunday we had the privilege of hearing from several serving in various mission contexts in Ecuador and Uganda. We considered the implications of 1 John 2:2, Jesus died, not only for our sins, but the sins of the entire world. Who is responsible for telling them (the whole world)?

Brokenness is unavoidable. How do you deal with brokenness, especially when you bear some responsibility? In Psalms 51, we find a rare and raw look into King David's heart and prayerful journey to restoration and forgiveness.

This message gives a short summary of John's teaching on themes of Sin and Salvation in 1 John 1-3. What were the false teachings that had caused so much disunity in their chuches? Are we being confronted with similar false truths and teaching today?

If we have new life than we will have a new love. If we are lacking in our love for others than there is some cause for concern. True Faith is evident by a new relationship with the Heavenly Father and a new love.

Do we have confidence in our Heavenly Father's voice and presence in our lives? If we know the Father than we should have confidence in the Father's active and relational involvement in our lives. In 1 John 3:19-24, we find a remarkable hope for the chronic doubters among us for confidence.

Have you ever witnessed an alarm sounding and people ignoring it? Maybe it was a false alarm or a test. How often to we learn to ignore warnings that should shock and awaken us to reality of potential dangers. There are few warnings in the Bible that sober us to the reality of the dangers we face living in this world than 1 John 2:15-17. "Love not the world or the things of this world."

Many "professing Christians" think they can be "good with God" on easy terms they are free to establish on their own. How can we know the authenticity of our faith apart from the walking in the light? 1 John 1:6-10 reveals 3 lies of false religion. These expose the ways people attempt to avoid the truth about themselves as revealed by God's Light.
