It is a very powerful thing to understand that Jesus is the light of the world. In times of darkness, the light is the only comfort. For you and I, we are invited to embrace the light as a daily reality. But what does that actually look like in tangible ways? What happens when we embrace the light?
Christmas time is here. But what is Christmas all about? Sure it’s busy and fun and intense. But really Christmas is a time to chase the light. But what is the light? And why should we chase? Find out this weekend.
As we close our study of the book of Romans, we find that Paul’s final instructions to the church of Rome are just as applicable for us today. More than anything, Paul reminds the Roman believers that they can’t allow themselves to get divided, and there’s only one way to preserve their harmony as a community. In a world that’s more divided all the time, the powerful truth Paul shares in these verses is a key for us today as we walk with Christ.
Many people wonder what God is like and how he would respond to them. This was true of the people who followed Jesus and they totally misunderstood His heart and mission. In this story a woman is “caught in the very act of adultery” and Jesus precedes to teach all of us something about the heart of God for broken people.
First impressions don’t tell you everything about a person...but they can say a lot! As Paul winds down his letter to the Roman church, it might surprise you how much we can learn from the way he sends greetings to his readers. If you’ve ever wondered how the family of God is supposed to function, or why it doesn’t always function the way it seems like it should, don’t miss this Sunday’s message! We’ll learn together what it truly means to love one another as family.
We all come from a family, but it means something different to each of us...For some of us, our family is a source of great pain and sadness, and for others, our family is a source of great joy and strength. No matter our family background, when we follow Jesus, He places us in a brand new family, the church, and there’s a work of healing God wants to do in and through us as we live in this new community. Join us this Sunday as we find relational healing together, in ways we never dared imagine. Study Guide: Help one another. Finish well, and then do the next thing. Pray for each other. Points to Ponder: Who and how can I help? Where am I struggling to finish well? How can I become more disciplined in my prayer life?
We are all called and empowered by Jesus to be a part of His transformational work in this world. As we always say, “Transformed people transform people.” As Jesus is transforming us, He invites us to partner with Him to help others know Him and be transformed. This process is called the “work of ministry” and we will be exploring that together today.
It seems like the whole world is fracturing. Look at our own nation. Whether it’s about homelessness, guns, violence, healthcare, or a host of other issues, we are far more divided than united, and it’s not getting any better. Is it just possible God has a better way, that he designed us for more?
