Trouble in life is guaranteed. The Bible tells us in John 16:33, “In the world you will have tribulation.” So where on earth can we find hope? Jesus answers this question with absolute clarity in the same verse, “...but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” While we all crave certainty about our future, who Jesus is and what He has done gives us the ultimate certainty. His imminent return quiets our loudest worries and calms our greatest anxieties if we simply believe and abide in Him. 

Our Lord Jesus is incredible. Everything about Him is praiseworthy. As a teacher, miracle worker, and social reformer, Jesus has transformed the world. We don’t often think of Jesus as a prophet. But He is a prophet. And His most famous prophecy is included in all three of the synoptic gospels: Matthew, Mark, and Luke. It is called the Olivet Discourse. This weekend, we will begin exploring it.

This week we are launching our new series, The Prophecies of Jesus, and we see that the Bible is full of prophecies. Jesus Himself not only spoke countless prophecies but the life He lived was the fulfillment of many prophecies. Today’s passage will explore the core of many of our struggles and it comes down to our belief. Can we believe that God is still good even when things don’t feel good? Do we believe Jesus to be who He says He is? Join us as we explore what it means to believe in Jesus as the resurrection and the life, even in the face of loss and uncertainty.

The resurrection of Jesus announces the victory of God. “The victory over what?” you may ask. The resurrection declares in bold terms the victory over EVERYTHING. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus, literally everything changes. And it is important for us to learn to walk in the victory by which Jesus has set us free.

Holy Week always begins with Palm Sunday. On that important day, Jesus entered Jerusalem and was celebrated as the Promised King. It’s incredible to imagine the scene as Jesus entered on His chosen donkey and the multitudes rejoiced and praised God. But it sparked the events that ultimately led Jesus to the cross and His victorious resurrection. As we reflect on Palm Sunday, there is much that we can learn.

In sports, when one team blows out another team, it is a sight to behold. The reactions and demeanors of the victorious team and their fans are unique. Even on the journey towards the end of the route, there is great joy in the victory. How much more should this be true for the children of God? The Bible declares that we are “more than conquerors” through Jesus. As we begin our new series, The Victory of Jesus, we will learn how to simply respond to Jesus’ tremendous victory.

In Mark 5:1-20, we meet a man who’s been tormented by demons, living in isolation and despair. But when Jesus arrives, everything shifts. This powerful story shows us that no demon can hold us back, no darkness can consume us, and no situation is too hopeless for Christ’s liberating power. Join us as we explore how Jesus not only frees the demon-possessed man but also calls him to a new life—a life transformed by mercy and grace. Discover how the same power that broke his chains can bring freedom to every area of your life.

Have you ever struggled with temptation? Of course you have. Everyone has. Whether it is the temptation to say or do something you know you ought not to do, or the struggle to not indulge a certain desire, everyone knows the battle of temptation. It may shock you to realize that Jesus, too, was tempted. Yet, Jesus was victorious over temptation at every turn. What a miracle! We have much to learn from Jesus as we explore Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness together.

In a world filled with noise, distractions, and criticisms, Jesus models what it means to live radically differently. As we continue our sermon series on the Miracles of Jesus, today’s passage reveals the power of stepping away from the noise, opening our hearts to the voice of God, and recognizing how hearing Him clearly impacts our ability to declare His goodness. Join us as we uncover how only Jesus can meet us in our deepest place of need. One encounter with Him leaves us forever changed, proclaiming with joyful confidence that “He does all things well.” 

Do you ever find yourself putting hope in the wrong thing and then being let down by the outcome? In the passage we’re studying today we see a great multitude of hurting people waiting for, and putting their hope in, something of this world, while the very Savior of the world walks through their midst. Their eyes and their hope were on the wrong thing. We can instead hear the invitation from Jesus to come to the Well of Living Water rather than to the pool of false hope. Then, once we’ve come and received from Jesus, we now have the task of going and telling those around us the work He’s done in and through us. When Jesus does incredible work in your life, will you go and tell them?
