Welcome to Crossroads Church!
This week in After God's Own Heart, Westminster Campus Pastor Kevin Syes explores one of the most familiar stories in the Bible: David and Goliath.
But what if this story is about more than courage?
As we look deeper into 1 Samuel 17, we'll discover that David's confidence didn't come from believing in himself. It came from remembering God's faithfulness and trusting that the battle belonged to the Lord.
No matter what giant you're facing today, this message reminds us that our hope is not found in our strength but in God's.
📖 Scripture:
1 Samuel 17
💬 Key Thought:
The battle is the Lord's.

This week we continue our summer series, After God's Own Heart, as we explore another powerful chapter in the life of David.
In 1 Samuel 26, David is given the perfect opportunity to take revenge on King Saul, the very man who has spent years hunting him down. Instead, David chooses mercy. Why? Because mercy isn't about pretending everything is okay. Mercy is trusting God with what isn't fair.
As we examine David's remarkable restraint, we'll discover how his story points us to Jesus—the One who showed mercy even to those who crucified Him.
📖 Scripture:
1 Samuel 26:7-25
💬 Key Thought:
Mercy doesn't ignore what's unfair. It trusts God with what's unfair.
Join us as we continue discovering how David's life points us to Jesus and what it means to live after God's own heart.

This week we begin our summer series, After God's Own Heart, a journey through the life of David and the story of God's redemption that ultimately points us to Jesus.
In Week 1, Pastor Reid Robinette explores David's anointing in 1 Samuel 16:1-13. While others focused on appearance, strength, and status, God saw something different. David's story reminds us that God often chooses the unlikely and that His plans are bigger than human expectations.
More importantly, David's life points us to Jesus—the true Anointed One, the King unlike any other king.
📖 Scripture:
1 Samuel 16:1-13
💬 Key Thought:
David points us to Jesus. Jesus is the point.

One encounter with Jesus can change everything.
Saul was a persecutor of Christians, convinced he was doing the right thing—until Jesus met him on the road to Damascus. What followed became one of the most powerful transformation stories in Scripture.
In the final week of Encounter, we explore Acts 9 and discover that no person is too far gone, too broken, or too resistant for the grace of God.

Jesus’ resurrection was not the end of the story.
Before ascending into heaven, Jesus promised His followers they would receive power through the Holy Spirit. The mission He gave them would be impossible without God’s presence working in and through them.
In Week 3 of Encounter, we explore Acts 1:1–8 and discover why the Holy Spirit still matters today.

Before there were church buildings, denominations, or even the New Testament… there was a mission.
In Week 2 of Encounter, we look at Jesus’ final instructions to His followers in Matthew 28:16–20. The resurrection wasn’t just meant to inspire us—it commissioned us.

What if the most important thing about you…
is something that can never change?
In Romans 8:31–39, we find one of the most powerful promises in all of Scripture: nothing can separate us from the love of God.
In the final week of our Set Free series, Kevin Syes walks through this truth and shows how your identity in Christ shapes everything about your life.
Because before behavior ever changes—
identity comes first.
And when you understand who you are in Christ,
it changes how you live.
In this message, we explore:
• What it means to be more than a conqueror
• Why God’s love is unshakable
• How identity drives transformation
No matter what you face—
you are not alone, and you are not defeated.

What does God do with our pain?
Suffering is one of the hardest realities of life—and one of the biggest questions people wrestle with in their faith.
In Romans 8:17–28, we see a powerful and unique perspective: suffering is not meaningless, and it is not the end of the story.
In Week 6 of our Set Free series, we explore:
• The unique view of suffering in Christianity
• The resource God gives us in suffering
• How to access hope in the middle of pain
God doesn’t ignore suffering.
And He doesn’t waste it either.
Even in the hardest moments, He is working for your good.

Can people really change?
Romans 8 gives a clear and powerful answer: yes—but not on your own.
In Week 5 of our Set Free series, Westminster Campus Pastor Kevin Syes walks through Romans 8:5–17 and shows how real transformation happens—not through effort alone, but through the power of the Holy Spirit living in you.
If you are in Christ, the Spirit of God is not just with you—
He is in you.
And that changes everything.
