To continue the flurry of activity here at Crosstawk, we present another hot episode of DMP featuring Jonny and guest Amanda Albert, who brings her selection of The Dandy Warhols. This acid-pop band is often hilarious and always interesting. The lush music production incorporates electronic beats with electric guitars and lots of crazy lyrics. It's every bit as weird as the previous collaborations between these hosts (Ween, Weird Al, and Frank Zappa) but probably a little more accessible and recognizable than any of those. Here's the setlist:
1. Get Off (Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia)
2. Bohemian Like You (Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia)
3. Plan A (Welcome to the Monkey House)
4. Wonderful You (Welcome to the Monkey House)
5. Scientist (Welcome to the Monkey House)
6. The Last High (Welcome to the Monkey House)
7. The New Country (Odditorium or Warlords of Mars)
8. Smoke It (Odditorium or Warlords of Mars)
9. We Used To Be Friends (The Dandy Warhols Are Sound)
10. I Am Sound (The Dandy Warhols Are Sound)
11. Sad Vacation (This Machine)
12. The Autumn Carnival (This Machine)
Encore:
Belle and Sebastian - The Blues Are Still Blue (The Life Pursuit)
We'd love to hear your feedback and requests! Please email [email protected]
The answer to all life questions, Box Office Poison is back! Jonny and Stan couldn't make it for this episode, but there are still plenty of movies to talk about, like Argo, Seven Psychopaths, Safety Not Guaranteed and Slither! Then, in the second segment, Mike, Karl and Jon discuss the Movie of the Month: Martyrs, including a written-in review from Jonny explaining the finer points of his opinion on the film. Trust me, guys, you don't want to miss this one!
Like to play along at home? Episode 44's Movie of the Month will be OSS-117: Cairo, Nest of Spies available right now on Netflix Instant!
Want to share your thoughts on Martyrs? Let us know via email ([email protected]), Twitter (@crosstawk) or in the comments section on the site.
As always, thanks for listening, everyone, and be sure to come back on Wednesday for a brand new episode of Discover Music Project.
It's been a long, long, looooong time coming, but you can finally hear the sweet sounds of five idiots talking out their asses about things that don't matter. I DO have a valid excuse for getting this episode up so late, though: I got sick, then I was admitted to the hospital for like four days, then I was discharged, then I was on the mend, then I was LAZY. This episode was actually recorded pre-sickness, so a few of our discussion topics may appear hilariously dated. But you know what? That's okay, because one moment in the show makes up for any bit that's lacking. It's the moment when Marcus laughs a LITTLE TOO HARD. It's been an omnipresent danger as long as I've known the man, and tonight, that horrible inevitability came to fruition.
Like this show? Sure you do. You can rate us (nicely) on iTunes and leave feedback on the website, www.crosstawk.com. Go on, all the cool kids are doing it. You can also follow Zach on Twitter @zmiller1902, Marcus @Marchaos1, and Luke @lukeakfl. If you don't use Twitter, like Nelson and Courtney, well, you're just missing out. ON PROGRESS. Anyway, enjoy the episode!
Hey folks, sorry for the delays on new BOP lately, but we've got 'em ready and in the can! On this episode, Jonny, Karl, Mike and Jon discuss Looper, Downfall, Indie Game: The Movie and Premium Rush, among others. Then, in the second segment, we discuss our latest batch of Trailer Trash: 42, Red Dawn, A Good Day to Die Hard and Lincoln.
Next time we'll be talking about Jon's pick for Movie of the Month: Martyrs! So be sure to come back on Monday when Episode 42 is released. And if you want us to read some of your listener mail on-air, hit us up via email ([email protected]), Twitter (@crosstawk) or in the comments secion on the site.
Thanks for the listening, everyone! See you on Monday.
And we're back! Discover Music Project returns after an extended vacation with one of the wildest episodes yet, as Jonny and co-host Amanda Albert peek into the weird, weird world of Frank Zappa. This virtuoso guitarist/composer has been a huge influence on many more famous musicians, yet his own work remains obscure and difficult to broach. In other words, he's a perfect candidate for the DMP treatment, and we have to thank listener Mike Torres for providing many of these song recommendations. This is one of the strangest, most challenging artists we've ever covered on the podcast. Stick with it, and your ears will be rewarded! Here's the setlist:
1. Peaches en Regalia
2. Father Oblivion
3. Son of Orange County
4. Let's Move to Cleveland
5. I'm the Slime
6. Zomby Woof
7. Cosmik Debris
8. Andy
9. Muffin Man
10. Watermelon in Easter Hay (Joe's Garage)
Encore:
Hampton Grease Band - "Maria" (Music to Eat)
This is yet another example of a listener request episode; we'd love to get your own ideas for more music to play on the show, so please send your comments and ideas to [email protected]. Thanks for listening!
Hey, folks! This time on CP, I'm talking to Sterling Salzberg about his new EP, Friends Without Benefits. Sterling's been a part of the South Florida punk scene for over a decade and his latest release really shows the maturation of his songwriting. We go over some of his earlier days and influences before preview three songs off of the EP.
Want to hear more? Good news, the Friends Without Benefits EP is out TODAY. You can find it on iTunes, Amazon and wherever good digital music is sold. You can also hit up Sterling on Twitter to find out about upcoming shows and news.

Hey folks, sorry for the slight delay on this one, but BOP is back and ready to go! The whole gang is back together, so the plus-sized first segment goes all the way from The Master and Premium Rush to Cosmopolis and The Dark Knight Returns to Magicians and The Aviator and even Jimmy Neutron.
Then, in the second segment, we talk about Mike's pick for Movie of the Month, My Cousin Vinny. Did Marisa Tomei really earn that Oscar or did she and Pesci leave us cold? You'll have to listen in to find out. And for those of you who like to paly along at home, Jon's pick for next month is going to be the French horror flick, Martyrs.
Want us to read your listener mail on the next episode of BOP? Hit us up via email ([email protected]), Twitter @crosstawk) or in the comments section on the site. And if you would please give us a review on iTunes, we'd surely appreciate it.
Thanks for listening, guys! We'll see you on Tuesday for an awesome new Crosstawk Presents.
Welcome back to BOP! On today's episode, Jon and Stan couldn't make it, but Jon, Mike and I make up for it with lots of great discussion, including movies like Bachelorette, ParaNorman and the Seven Year Itch. Then we get into some of your awesome listener mail to talk about Hard Candy, Demolition Man, Mac and Me, Minority Report and even an extended talk about the Alamo Drafthouse.
Then, in the second segment, we go over some Trailer Trash and give our thoughts on Seven Psychopaths, Anna Karenina, This is 40 and Cloud Atlas.
Want us to read some of your listener mail on the show? Email us at [email protected] or hit me up via Twitter @crosstawk. You can also leave comments on the site. And please head on over to iTunes and leave a rating/review. We really need more of those to grow the great Crosstawk audience, so we'd absolutely appreciate your help!
Thanks for listening, folks. See ya next week!
It finally happened. After months of successfully putting it off, we were all forced to talk about...books. We talk about books for over two hours. Zach, Gina, Nelson, Marcus, and Courtney all give their Top Five books in this epic bookcast. Take notes--you may want to read a few of these. More than anything else, we learn that books are Marcus' absolute favorite storytelling medium, at towards the end, he goes on a Terry Pratchett tear that lasts for what seems like half the episode. But then Zach talks about a dinosaur book for way too long, so it all evens out.
Not much else to say: this episode is strangely focused. What are your Top Five books? Do any them have to do with a certain Frog and/or Toad? Or a Paddington Bear? Let us know in the comments! Or you can email us at [email protected]. You can subscribe to the show on iTunes, of course--where you should also rate us (nicely). If you like the Frozen North Dinnercast, you might also like the other Crosstawk shows, like Box Office Poison, Discover Music Project, and...once in a blue moon...Crosstawk Comics!
And if you like hearing Zach's smooth baritone, which was affected by swollen vocal chords this episode, you should check out his other show, NWR Connectivity, which is NOT about books. I swear.
Everyone's curious about space, so we asked the NWR community for their questions, and then Jonny tried to answer them on this podcast. The show is hosted and edited by Scott Thompson, who does great work on NWR Connectivity, where this audio originally appeared as a bonus segment. Drop your own questions into the comments section for this episode on Crosstawk, or head over to the NWR forums and contribute to the original thread.
