Psalm 110:4 - "The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind: “You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.”  

Jesus is considered a priest in the order of Melchizedek because, like Melchizedek, Jesus was not a descendant of Aaron, and thus would not qualify for the Jewish priesthood  under the Law of Moses.  "He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself." Hebrews 7:27b NIV
