How is it that David is a "man after God's own heart"?
The Life of David

His Story
Israel led by God-->Moses/Joshua/judges-->Samuel prophet -->Israel wants a king.
First king = Saul -->but it doesn't go well
God sends Samuel to anoint David -- the youngest brother of a large family. The shepherd.
David's struggles after being anointed king:
hated by Saul -- fear of being killedlost support of family/friendsmarries (uses) women for political and financial gaingives in to lust and rapes Bathshebamurders Uriah when Bathsheba gets pregnantarrogant in making excuses
If our faith journey is about getting it all right, David's journey and being called the "man after God's own heart" doesn't make sense. But God is not about what we "look" like.
God wants to change us from the inside--that's what He looks at.
