Latham, NY native singer/songwriter Zan Strumfeld has spent the majority of her life trying to figure out who she is. As a self-described pseudo-Luddite and romantic, she has taken to the written word since she was six years old.

Weak from heat and a broken heart, Zan picked up her hardly-played guitar and starting write songs in the summer of 2011. Things escalated much quicker than she thought they would, and somehow, after a few open mics, she began playing cafes, bars, and festivals. In less than a year, Zan has played more than 50 shows in the Hudson Valley and Capital Region.

Her lyrics undress her deepest secrets, reflecting her relationships with others, dissecting minute circumstances of self-discovery, and understanding life's truths. Spending most of her time with a steel string guitar, she's found nylon strings to be more suited for her voice and the sad but seducing rhythms she likes to play.

She is heavily influenced by writers including Joni Mitchell, Simon & Garfunkel, Laura Marling, Milan Kundera, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and Richard Brautigan. Although she would love to be a folk singer/songwriter who dabbles with soul, jazz, funk, indie, and country, she has yet to find a genre she can comfortably box herself into. The "Genre of Zan" has been the closest she has come to.

Molly Durnin is a singer-songwriter with a sound all her own, including a rhythmic guitar groove and tuneful melodic sense that draws from the heart of Americana, folk and blues traditions. Refreshingly original, her songs combine wit and whimsy with a driving energy and emotional depth that never fail to enthrall listeners.

Molly's new CD "Run", released June 21, 2012, includes ten original songs recorded at Black Dog Studios in Stillwater, NY, with some of the region's top musicians providing backup, including The City Never Sleeps, a well-known indie band based in Albany, and veteran bass player Tony Markellis.

In her songs, Durnin ponders the freedom of foxes, speculates on the existence of extraterrestrials, sings of temptation, cheap wine, and mermaid revenge. Played in her characteristic acoustic groove, the arrangements include bass, drums, conga, lead guitar, keyboard and harmonica, while her husky-sweet vocals remain front and center. It is hoped that her fresh sound will find airplay at indie radio stations nationwide

Coming together in December 2010, but no strangers to the stage or wide audiences, The Lazy Suns features five seasoned musicians/singer-songwriters who have spent most of their lives performing all over the United States. Too many songs today seem repetitive and uniform. Rather than conforming to traditional styles, Step.back.Eleven wishes to bring a twist to the music world by combining several backgrounds together. With Drummer Josh Opitz bringing Punk, Brandon Oropallo bringing grunge and rock, and Sal Leggieri infusing the music with hard rock and hints of metal, the idea of music can hopefully change. Even though there are many styles comprised within this band the overall attempt is to make similar genre music that can appeal to multiple audiences through every song.
