Ordinary people could lead saintly lives without needing to commit heroic acts of virtue. This is the theme of our Saint of the Day. Saint teressa  of lizeu. That really is what faith is about. Having faith that even though you are not a Saint or a religious leader you still can carry on as it is what is inside and how you treat others on a plain daily basis that makes a difference in this world. The act of a smile can mean so much to someone and Thérèse new this. Her in depth knowledge came from deep suffering at a very young age. She was the youngest of nine but 4 children in her family died as children. Her father a watchmaker was very close to her and he had 3 strokes and had to be put in a mental institution, her mother died earlier when she was just 4. Therese died when she was 24, after having lived as cloistered Carmelite for less than ten years. She never went on missions, never founded a religious order, never performed great works. The only book of hers, published after her death, was a brief edited version of her journal called "Story of a Soul." within 28 years of her death, the public demand was so great that she was canonized. 

Without realizing it, by the time she was eleven years old she had developed the habit of mental prayer. She would find a place between her bed and the wall and in that solitude think about God, life, eternity. She realized she wanted to be a nun as some of her sisters were. She knew as a Carmelite nun she would never be able to perform great deeds. " Love proves itself by deeds, so how am I to show my love? Great deeds are forbidden me. St. Vincent de Paul was born to a poor peasant family in a French village on April 24, 1581. His first formal education was provided by the Franciscans. He did so well, he was hired to tutor the children of a nearby wealthy family.

He spent his life preaching missions to and providing relief to the poor. He even established hospitals for them. This work became his passion. He later extended his concern and ministry to convicts. The need to evangelize and assist these souls was so great and the demands beyond his own ability to meet that he founded the Ladies of Charity, a lay institute of woman, to help, as well as a religious institute of priests - the Congregation of Priests of the Mission, commonly referred to now as the Vin cen tians. He was once accused of stealing 400 crowns by his roommate a judge. He explained it could not be him he was bedridden that day with illness and he insisted G-d new the truth. Several days later the real thief confessed he had made a delivery to their house came in saw the money and took it. His roommate felt horrible and got on his knees and begged for forgiveness. Strong character witnesses on both sides in the fight over Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's nomination. Former co-workers are defending Deborah Ramirez, a Yale University classmate of Kavanaugh's, who tells The New Yorker that Kavanaugh exposed himself to her at a dorm room party and touched her without consent. Denver -based victims advocate Lisa Calderon worked with Ramirez.

For her to come forward, I know it's taken a lot from her and I know it's probably taken a toll.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein meets with President Trump on Thursday to learn his fate at the Department of Justice. Trump's legal team says the Russia investigation should be postponed if Rosenstein goes. Democratic Senator Chris Coons disagrees.

And now our Saint of the day is Bl. Herman the Cripple who stands as a shining light, reminding us that God purposely chose what the world considers weak in order to shame the powerful. Blessed Herman proves God doesn't make junk. He was a genius born with spina bifida, a cleft palate and cerebral palsy. Some medical historians have suggested that Blessed Herman suffered from (ALS) or spinal muscular atrophy. The cards clearly not in his favor despite all of his physical setbacks this man thrived. Even though Herman had  physical disabilities, he built fine musical instruments and intricate astronomical equipment by hand. When he became blind at the end of his life, he dedicated himself to prayer and poetry. Many Catholics are familiar with his music considering he wrote two of the most beautiful prayers the Catholic Church possesses―. But there is no genetic disorder that makes a human being less than a human. Instead, only a deep-rooted hatred and sociopathic misanthropy is the cause of such evil and hate..

Bill Cosby had potentially faced up to 30 years in prison, but he now faces a maximum of 10 years after prosecutors and defense attorneys agreed to merge the three counts of his conviction into one for sentencing purposes.

Prosecutors asked a judge on Monday to sentence Cosby to five to 10 years in prison for sexually assaulting Andrea Constand, saying he had shown "no remorse" for his actions. However, Cosby's defense attorney, Joseph P. Green, asked for a sentence of house arrest, citing Cosby's advanced age and blindness.
