Amy is the writer of Ellen: The Ellen Pakkies Story, the showrunner of the upcoming Showmax original series Skemerdans and the director of the upcoming film, Barakat. 2020 was a very difficult year. It was the year of mourning for many, but also a year of many starts. We started the podcast this year in the midst of the pandemic and did not expect the positive response that we would get. It has been six months full of learning, spending time with amazing guests, and finding out more about you, the listener.

For this our final episode of 2020, we went back and recapped some of our favourite moments from our interviews, answered some of your questions, heard from our guests about their top moments in pop culture this year, and gave our top lists of 2020.

This week we have a special Christmas episode. And in the spirit of Christmas we having a little family reunion. We are joined by Caryn’s mom, Val and her sister, Vanessa to chat about funny Christmas memories like Caryn’s cheap gifts and her terrible Christmas ornaments, Val’s obsession with TLC shows, and why Vanessa loves Christmas so much.

This week we were joined by musician Dani Bagel (@missdanibagel on Twitter and @danibagel on Instagram). We spoke about the inspirations for her debut EP, ‘Magic In Her Hair’, releasing her music independently, what being sturvy means to her, and who her dream collab would be with.

This week’s guest is Tecla Ciolfi ( @texxonfire on Twitter, @texxonfire on Instagram), editor and founder of music website Texx and the City, and the host of the podcast, Texx Talks. Tecla has been in the music industry for over ten years and was one of Mail & Guardian’s Top 200 Young South Africans. We chatted about that time she auditioned for Idols, what she thinks of this year’s Grammy nominees, the DJ Lag situation and her top 5 albums ever.

This week we have a special episode about the new Netflix film, Riding With Sugar with special guests Charles Mnene and Hakeem Kae-Kazim, who play the roles of Joshua and Mambo respectively.

This week on the podcast we were joined by Yaaseen Barnes ( @Ya_a_seen_Him on Twitter, @Ya_a_seen_Him on Instagram) . Yaaseen is a one-liner comedian, MC and writer. We spoke about his journey to becoming a comedian, creating inclusive spaces, the one person who got him starstruck and whether he was on Team Hope or Team Billie.
