C's Defense Collapses. 2-1 Series Lead
The Celtics fall to the Hawks 130-122 in a game where defense was nonexistent at times. Trae Young finally exploited the Celtics drop coverage and had a field day scoring 32pts alongside 6reb and 9ast. This game was lost on the defensive end and there's no ifs ands or buts about it. Offensively, the Celtics played pretty damn well. They scored 122pts on 44% from 3 alongside 31st which are both incredible. Derrick White and Jaylen Brown both got in foul trouble early and never got in a rhythm but other guys stepped up. After two straight DNP-CDs, Grant Williams got some early minutes because of JB and White's foul troubles and he took full advantage of them. He scored 14pts in just 18min on 4-4 from 3 and 2-2 from the FT line while taking 2 charges. He really made the most of his minutes tonight.
Smart played great on both sides of the ball and scored 24pts alongside 8ast and 3stl while also shooting 42% from 3. Brogdon was also really solid with his 17pts 5ast. Tatum, despite a 29pt 10reb performance seemed off for a lot of the night. He only shot 40% from the field and 36% from 3 while turning the ball over 4 times. It wasn't his brightest game but there's no doubt in my mind that will change come game 4. The Hawks are a 27% 3pt shooting team that shot 44% tonight. I do not think that is sustainable and I fully expect the Celtics to come out firing Sunday night and take a 3-1 series lead.
