C's Embarrassed At Home To New Look Nets
The Celtics lost to the new look Nets 115-105 in a game where they once led by as many as 28pts!!! The Celtics came out firing early in this one and led 37-15 after the first and were doing everything right. They were getting downhill, getting to the FT line, hitting their 3s and defending at a very high level. Then everything changed and we saw the intensity slip on the defensive end, the pace slowed down and we saw more iso ball. We were outscored by 13 in the 2nd quarter, 14 in the 3rd quarter and 5 in the 4th quarter...
Obviously losing a 28pt lead is frustrating but the thing that frustrates me the most is the fact that we still outplayed them in several aspects of today's game. We shot a higher % from the field, we outrebounded them, had more assists, more fastbreak pts and way more pts in the paint and we still lost. The 3pt shooting killed us but the play of Jayson Tatum was the real killer. He just seemed disinterested in this game which is odd considering it was his birthday. He shot 0-8 from 3 today and had 4 boneheaded turnovers. If you take out his 0-8 from 3, the Celtics shot 40% which will win you a lot of games in the NBA but Tatum's shot selection was horrible in this one. JB (35pts 5reb 4ast 3stl) and Derrick Whites (16pts 4reb 3ast) were the only real bright spots in todays game. Smart had a couple of beautiful steals and assists in this one but those slowed down as the game progressed. Tough loss for the Celtics who are in a tough battle for the #1 spot in the Eastern Conference with the Bucks.
