  • CSG #39 Rich Eisen calls in, Broncos Draft, Nuggets playoffs

Episode 39 - as Ross would say, "Lots to talk about!"

The Broncos added to their roster through the draft with Derek Wolfe, Brock Osweiler, and Ronnie Hillman. The guys discuss each pick as well as John Elway's decision to take a quarterback and trade his first round pick ... twice!

Ross talks with the face of the NFL Network, Rich Eisen - about running the 40-yard dash at the combine, and how you can win a change to appear on his show by stepping in to his shoes.  They also discuss Rich's reaction to the Jaguars selecting a punter in the 3rd Round, and about the Broncos selection of Osweiler. Plus, Eisen discusses his own podcast and explains why it's fun to have celebrities on his show.

The Nuggets are fighting for their playoff lives against the experienced and talented Los Angeles Lakers. Kobe Bryant is still a force and 7'1'' and 285 pound Andrew Bynum has been a wrecking ball through the first two games. Can the Nuggets pull of another miracle comeback (remember the 1994 playoffs?!)?

And speaking of miracles ... Todd Helton and Jason Giambi are still plugging along for the Rockies, but have the Rockies done a disservice by doing something different with their hotdogs and bratwursts? All that and more ... in this episode!

  • CSG #38: Dawkins retires, Faried for ROY?

The guys are back for CSG #38 - where Nate still hasn't seen The Hunger Games and Ross can't believe he had to witness a Rapids game.

The guys discuss the Nuggets possible playoff foes, now that George Karl's team has locked up a playoff spot for the ninth time in his tenure. The Lakers or the Thunder ... both teams present very tough match-ups for the Nuggets.

Nate tries to understand how the Rookie of the Year is determined in the NBA. Ross declares it a popularity contest and they both try to make the case for Kenneth Faried.

Sad news with Brian Dawkins announcing his retirement from the Broncos and the NFL. The guys discuss Dawkins' career and if he should retire as an Eagle. Plus the guys discuss the upcoming NFL draft that is going to take place Thursday, April 26th.

If you're looking for somewhere to watch the NFL Draft, the guys at the South Stands Denver Fancast are taping their 100th episode and having a party at Jake's Food and Spirits in Denver.

  • CSG #37: Nuggets in the post-season? Broncos schedule out.

Welcome to the 37th episode of the Colorado Sports Guys podcast. Ross and Nate have a lot to talk about ... including CSU's new hoops coach - again, what teams the Nuggets might face in the post-season (if they make it), the Broncos' schedule is out and they have a ton of prime-time games because of Peyton Manning, Todd Helton's turn back the clock games, and Nate's gripe with a local Irish pub.

  • CSG #36: Opening Day Blues, or Purples?

Do you smell that fresh cut grass? I bet you do because Opening Day at Coors Field happened this week and that fresh grass aroma has been floating all over Lower Downtown Denver aka LoDo. We should consider ourselves lucky not to smell the vomit that surely covered a good area of the LoDo sidewalks.

Well, the guys talk at length about Opening Day and your Rockies. Are the hardcore fans upset with the slow start? Do the casual fans like going to the ballpark above anything else? What can we expect out of this team and should we even care ...

The CSU football team is facing a little controversy up in Fort Fun or Fort Collins. Guilty before being proven innocent continues to be the cloud that hangs over every star laden headline. What role should head coach Jim McElwain play in the whole thing? Ross and Nate have to agree to disagree.

The Nuggets now have eight games left on the schedule and Danilo Gallinari is back, but Nate tries to explain why Denver fans should expect more out of their basketball team. And Ross is more than happy to question the Nuggets and their ownership's ways.

All that and a little bit more ... just click play!

  • CSG #35: Can THESE Rockies make the playoffs?

The guys welcome Andrew Martin from Purple Row.com to the show. The folks at Purple Row are running the most comprehensive and largest Rockies blog in the world. After talking with Mr. Martin the CSG guys know why the Rockies are in good hands with Purple Row. And after you listen to his interview, you will be ready for opening day at Coors Field on April 9th.

The guys discuss a little Ubaldo Jimenez vs. Troy Tulowitzki, they talk about who the Rockies got back in the Baldy trade: Drew Pomeranz and Alex White and what kind of success we can see from them this year, where will the Rox get offense, and a whole lot more.

Andrew joins the guys for the entire show and gives his take on the Broncos "new" orange uniforms designed by Nike. Ross is excited for the stands at Mile-High to be uniform once again, like the sea of red in Kansas City and the black hole in Oakland. Denver fans can look forward to seeing the Orange Crush back in the Mile High City.

And as the guys normally do with a guest, they play a game ... Martin vs. Martin to determine which guy - Ross or Andrew - will walk away with some bragging rights to Nate's Rockies Trivia! And of course ... there is a prize.

  • CSG #34: Who can lead the Nuggets?

Episode 34 gets down to some real Nuggets talk as Ross and Nate discuss who should be the leader of the team. Ross makes a case for hard working players being the best leaders, like Kenneth Faried as Nate looks at why Ty Lawson hasn't been a consistent floor general.

Can the Nuggets make a post-season run? Can George Karl even get his team there? The guys take a look at player rotations and what needs to be done to make the playoffs possible.

The Broncos brought in some luke-warm free agents, who could turn out to be better than expected.

The Top 5 punishments for college coaches who don't fulfill their contracts are handed out.

  • CSG #33: Peyton Manning chooses the Broncos, what's next for Tebow?

The guys come into the 33rd podcast the day after Nate's 30th birthday. Ross tries to explain the pros and cons of gray hair, but can't stay focused for too long as Peyton Manning talk beckons.

The CSG boys hold off on Manning talk long enough to discuss the Nuggets trade deadline move that saw Nene shipped off to the Washington Wizards for center JaVale McGee. Now that Danilo Gallinari may be out for a few weeks, Nate likes the role Wilson Chandler will play for the Nuggets stepping into the starting lineup (hopefully).

Now to the Manning talk ... what does this mean for Tim Tebow? Does Manning still have it from a playing stand-point? Did Pat Bowlen invest too much money into the Peyton pot? Will No. 18 have a say in personnel decisions? That plus the Top 5 Things to Now Do With Tim Tebow ...

  • CSG #32: Peyton Manning will be the next Broncos QB

The guys discuss the Pros and Cons of the Broncos signing free agent quarterback Peyton Manning. You'll quickly discover that Nate is on the "pro" side and Ross is ... well ... you'll have to listen to find out.

With it being that time of year, the guys also discuss MARCH MADNESS! Both the Colorado Buffaloes and Colorado State Rams made the Big Dance this year and both school have tough matchups ... winnable, but tough. The guys also delve into where they like to watch the games, if the NCAA should expand the best tournament of all time, and how one should go about picking gams.

With things in the Colorado sports world slowing down just a bit over the past week or two, things couldn't have picked up more over the last week. Once again, it's an exciting time to be a Colorado sports fan!

  • CSG #31: Who are the top sports bad guys?

Podcast 31 rolls out and the guys get down to the business of Netflix, televisions, the Cheesecake Factory, anger sharks, and much more. Then they decide to talk sports too ...

Where should Peyton Manning go? Is it important to spend your career with one team in this day and age? Does anyone care where he goes? Because we're pretty sure Denver is not a possibility. Perrish Cox gets mentioned for the last time on the CSG program as the guys try to understand just what happened in that bizarre case and try to make sense of Cox's tweets about being found "not guilty".

Some Nuggets talk finds its way into the show as Ross asks why George Karl is still the coach? Nate tries to determine what players could be available at the trade deadline and Ross shares his thoughts on Nene and his contract.

And the return of the Top 5 List happens as the guys discuss the Top 5 Sports Bad Guys. Kobe Bryant gets a mention, along with O.J. Simpson, Rae Carruth, Derrick Fisher, and more.

  • CSG #30: Avs make deadline moves, ebbs and flows of blogs

The guys call Cheryl Bradley from Mile High Hockey.com to ask about the two trade deadline deals the Avalanche made. Were the moves to make the team better, this season? And did the Avs win those trades? We get the full scoop from Bradley.

The guys venture into the comment sections of blogs, newspapers, and national websites to discuss the ebbs and flows of die-hard fans in good times and in bad. Ross asks Nate about being criticized as a blogger and all sorts of questions. A lot of the talk stemming from the heat George Karl has taken from commenters on Denver Stiffs.com.

Finally, Nate quizzes Ross about the NBA All-Star game. Which conference won? Who got their nose broken? Who was the nose breaker? And who won the dunk and three point contests. Ross' knowledge is pretty outstanding on these subjects, even though he thought Jeremy Bloom and Jeremy Evans were the same guy ...

    Listen in.
