CSG Podcast

The Denver Nuggets selected guard Julian Strawther, guard Jalen Pickett and forward Hunter Tyson in the 2023 NBA Draft. On the Latest Mortcast on CSG Jeff talks about how that's cool and all ... but if these guys get significant minutes that means something has gone terribly wrong. The Nuggets big focus this offseason is the Bruce Brown problem and how to solve it (hopefully he returns).

In the second half of the podcast Jeff talks about ESPN's extremely poor Draft coverage and how the Worldwide Leader needs to "get with the times" as the NBA moves into an era with more parity. Can ESPN do it, or does the NBA need to look elsewhere (as Jeff wants them to).

Jeff previews the NBA Draft and if the Nuggets can move up into the first round and get a (likely) guard they need on the roster.

In the second half Jeff talks about MPJ and his desire to be a star and how that conflicts with the Nuggets need for him to accept being a third or fourth banana. It doesn't matter right now, but will probably matter in the future.

It's officially the offseason at the Mortcast! The Nuggets are NBA champions and the sun is shining brightly. On the latest Mortcast Jeff talks about how the Nuggets and Jokic have given the League an existential crisis over their size and Jokic being a 1 of 1.

In the second half of the podcast Jeff goes over what he calles "NBA Stupid Season" and gives a bit of a guide into keeping your sanity as trade rumors and more pop up out of nowhere.

They did it folks! They did it! The Denver Nuggets on the back of Nikola Jokic and Michael Porter Jr gut out a gritty 94-89 victory over the Miami Heat to secure their first ever NBA champtionship. It's surreal and wonderful to behold for a long time fan who never thought he would see this day.

In the second half Jeff reflects on the long journey to this point for himself. How he got here and just how damn long it's been. It is validating to see this now.

The Denver Nuggets defeated the Miami Heat in Game 4 of the Finals by a score of 108-95 placing them one victory away from the first championship in the 56 years history of the franchise (ABA/NBA)

The rundown:

1. Jeff pats himself on the back about what he said after game 2
2. Shout out to Tim Connelly for the Aaron Gordon trade
3. Bruce Brown is "the spice" for this Nuggets team
4. Malone's relationship with Jamal Murray is reason #2 for the Nuggets success
5. The MVP stuff probably nees to end

The Denver Nuggets prevailed over the Miami Heat in Game 3, 109-94. The Nuggets didn't exactly "adjust" to the Heat. Did everything they always have ... just did it better than the 4th quarter of game 2. Jeff talks about how Jokic, Murray and Braun came through for the Nuggets and how the Heat look different when they don't hit every shot.

In the second half of the podcast Jeff talks about how the NBA is yes, lazy and they want players to go out and get their own endorsements and advertising ... but on the flip side the league desperately WANTS to promote Jokic and he kind of just doesn't want to be promoted. Which create this issue. The best player in the league and the league he plays in don't know how to benefit each other.

The Nuggets lost at home for the first time in these playoffs in a three point loss to the Miami Heat in game 2. In the grand scheme of things it took a massive effort and near perfect 4th quarter to beat the Nuggets so one shouldn't be too worried about the result. However, the post game presser's by Jeff Green and Michael Malone served as a contrast and Jeff talks about how Malone's hot headedness is the worst part of his coaching and how you shouldn't listen to his post game pressers but pay close attention to his post practice and pre game pressers.

The Denver Nuggets didn't play their best game but convincingly prevailed over the Miami Heat to take game one of the NBA Finals. On the latest Mortcast on CSG, Jeff talks about the Nuggets victory over the Heat, talks about Nikola Jokic's greatness and how the Nuggets can be even better in game 2.

In the second half Jeff goes over how the NBA is at a crisis point in trying to promote the Denver Nuggets. The overreliance on athletes getting endorsements has hit the "immovable object" of Nikola Jokic. He just refuses to do so. The league needs to get creative with the best player in the game.
