The word ‘sacrament’ can have a different meaning for you depending on your background - Episcopal, Baptist,, Methodist etc.. Listen to Fr. Charles as he explains a common understanding of what the sacrament is (no matter your background) based on John’s Gospel beginning in chapter 6, verse 35 and in 2 Samuel chapter 23:15-17. He gives historical and cultural context to illustrate what Jesus is saying when he tells the Jews, “Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life…” As Fr. Charles points out, this would be a hard concept for them, and for us to understand, until we look at the implications of the sacrament of Baptism and the Eucharist in our lives – in our past, present and future.
