  • Stick Boy Podcast – Ep 164 – Full Gear 2019 Preview

Joel is flying solo this week but he's still previewing AEW Full Gear. Before he gets there he talks about an update on Saudi Arabia and what potentially happened to the WWE talent. I also take a look at the title change that changes the potential match of the night on Survivor Series. AEW had a busy week, with some amazing promos, Omega travel situation, an update on Luchasaurus, and Cody's conference call from today. Finally, I close the show out with running down the card and giving my picks for who I think will win on Saturday.

  • WTMusic: Martin Helmantel of 7 Miles to Pittsburgh

We Talk Music is Holland bound! This time Brett welcomes bassist of 7 Miles to Pittsburgh, Martin Helmantel. Martin comes on to talk about the band's latest release Revolution on Hold out now via their own label A67 Records.

7 Miles to Pittsburgh was formed when Martin, formerly of Elegy and singer Andrew Elt formerly of the band Sleeze Beez decided it was time to work together. They released their first self-titled album in 2017, and a lot of the songs they were working on during those sessions wound up as part of Revolution on Hold. We talk that as well as a bunch of other topics including:

    * When and how they write their songs
    * How the band came together and formed
    * Getting their music out to the public
    * The songs that go on the live set, including the Rush classic, Tom Sawyer
    * The album cover and what they look for in cover art
    * Where the band's name came from
    * How the sound of the band developed
    * How Elegy and Sleeze Beez fans have reacted to the new band
    * Stories that prove how accurate This is Spinal Tap was
    * What Martin wished he had done better in his early career
    * Being a business man, but getting the right help
    * The 7 Miles to Pittsburgh beer that is coming out
    * How difficult it is to keep a band together
    * Having your own studio and being able to record whenever you want

  • Kung Fu Electric Boogaloo 902: The Monolith Monsters

We'll show you ours If You Show Me Yours! This time up we have a real, proper, no fooling b-movie! It's Universal's The Monolith Monsters, slowly making their way to a screen near you!

Government geologist Dave Miller returns to his office in San Angelo to find it wrecked, strewn with black rocks along with his fellow geologist, Ben, dead, seemingly turned to stone. He can make little sense of it, nor can the local doctor diagnose what killed his colleague. When the Simpson farm is destroyed - also covered with the same black rocks - they find little Ginny Simpson as the only survivor. She too is afflicted, with her right hand turned to stone and spreading. When they transfer her to Los Angeles, Dave calls on his former professor, Arthur Flanders, who concludes the rock has to be a meteorite. What they soon learn is that the rocks grow when in contact with water - and the growing rocks are on a path directly to San Angelo, with only a few hours to find a way to stop them.

As always, the KFEB hosts provide ratings for the films that are based on the fun, enjoyment, and craziness of the film. These scores will be tabulated and an on-going grid will keep you up to date with the search.
So sit back and enjoy the laughs as KFEB runs from the very slow-moving monoliths that are sort of probably affected by water but in a good an bad way!

  • Kung Fu Electric Boogaloo 901: I Like to Hurt People
We'll show you ours, If You Show Me Yours! Season 9 kicks off with a documentary that is staged, but in a squared circle. It's the 1985 wrestling film I Like to Hurt People featuring Andre The Giant, Dusty Rhodes, Sky Low Low, and more!

This mix of documentary and hokey acting has built a cult following in and out of the wrestling world, but it is admired by longtime wrestling fans. Increasingly rare, this film is out of print on dvd, so take a trip over to our YouTube channel to give it a view!

The original idea was to film a horror movie called Ringside in Hell. When the horror aspect was dropped, it would become Ringside. Stories were built around real life wrestling matches. Bryan Greenberg has obtained most of the original footage, shot in the mid-'70s, and hopes within the next few years to release the movie close to the original concept. Funding was lacking and the movie was put on the backburner. It was to Greenberg's surprise when the movie was released on video and laserdisc in 1985 under the title I Like To Hurt People.

As always, the KFEB hosts provide ratings for the films that are based on the fun, enjoyment, and craziness of the film. These scores will be tabulated and an on-going grid will keep you up to date with the search.
So sit back and enjoy the laughs as KFEB does a heel turn and proves that when it comes to our listeners, we do like to hurt people.

  • WTMusic: Kenny Hickey of Silvertomb

We Talk Music is digging deep! This time Brett welcomes vocalist and guitarist Kenny Hickey from the band Silvertomb to the show. Kenny is on to promote the band's first album Edge of Existence which was recently released from Long Branch Records.

Silvertomb was formed featuring several of the members of Seventh Void. And of course Kenny Hickey and drummer Johnny Kelly are best known for their work as members of Type O Negative. Despite a desire to try and quit the music business altogether, Kenny found he couldn't and so we have Edge of Existence; we talk that as well as a bunch of other topics including:

    * The reason there was such a gap between recordings for Kenny
    * The writing process for the album
    * Translating the songs from the album to live performance
    * The differences between Seventh Void and Silvertomb
    * The brotherhood of being in bands with the same guys
    * The New York attitude
    * The album cover and the process behind it
    * How long it took him to get back to playing after his accident
    * The emotional content of the songs
    * How they decide on the setlist
    * How Kenny wound up becoming a singer
    * Advice that Kenny would give his younger self
