Cult Film Showdown: Enter the Octagon Archives - We Talk Podcasts

Let’s get ready to mustache!! It’s a season of Free Mustache Rides! It’s a spooktacular Mustache as Boris Karloff sits around the house on the Isle of the Snake People!

The inhabitants of a small, remote island have been practicing voodoo rites and worshiping an evil priest named Damballah for years, but the local law officials generally turn a blind eye to this death cult’s bizarre activities. Captain Labesch arrives from the mainland, determined to crack down on the island’s lawlessness and clean up the ineffectual, hard-drinking police force. He appeals for assistance from wealthy plantation tycoon Carl Van Molder, who owns nearly half of the island and wields a great deal of influence over the population.

Van Molder has made the study of parapsychology his life’s work and believes in the secret powers of the mind. He warns Labesch not to interfere with this forgotten island’s ancient ways. Also visiting is Van Molder’s niece, Annabella, a temperance crusader who wants her uncle to help fund the International Anti-Saloon League. She falls in love with handsome police lieutenant Andrew Wilhelm, despite his fondness for rum. Meanwhile, beautiful native girls are being transformed into zombies, and a sinister snake dancer named Kalea leads them to attack and devour any meddling policemen who get too close to their unholy rituals.

Let’s get ready to mustache!! It’s a season of Free Mustache Rides! The Mustaches do not come much bigger than Burt Reynolds and KFEB takes a look at an obscure comeback vehicle from 1997, Big City Blues!

A collection of characters who cross paths, unknowingly, during a night in the big city. The film focuses on the two hitmen Conner and Hudson, (Burt Reynolds and William Forsythe) who receive their contracts from an Englishman. A beautiful prostitute named Angela, who dreams of a career as a model and is searching for her doppelgänger, and two transvestites named Babs and Georgie.

Reynolds was looking for an indie-cred career boost and he got it! … from Boogie Nights which came out the same year as Big City Blues.

Let’s get ready to mustache!! It’s a season of Free Mustache Rides! The amazing Stacy Keach is the Mustache who is making things rough on the Class of 1999.

In a future world in Seattle the High Schools are one step above the prisons. In a new program to insure that students will come to class and remain alert to their subjects, Dr. Bob Forrest (Stacy Keach) has adapted Cyborgs from military research and development and made them into teachers. The head of the High School program Dr. Miles Langford (Malcolm McDowell) loves the idea mainly because his high school is rampant with gangs, and his daughter Christine is one of the students. When local high school tough Cody Culp is released from jail and back into the high school system he immediately is confronted by his old drug-addled and violence-prone school mates, but when he discovers how the new drug called the Edge has affected them and particularly his own mother, he begins to have a change of heart. This change of heart is also helped by Cody’s friendship with Christine who sees the good inside of the damaged soul of Cody and works to bond with him. When the three Cyborgs demonstrate homicidal solutions to student misbehavior Cody and Christine join together to uncover the true nature of these instructors and discover that they will have to fight for their lives to make high school a better place.
