Cult Film Showdown: Enter the Octagon Archives - We Talk Podcasts

These are the days of futures past as The Cult Film Showdown looks into the World of Tomorrow with Cherry 2000! This season the team looks at films that took place in a distant future that is now our past! (Trust us, it will make sense).

In 2017, Sam Treadwell lives in a society where romance, economics and technology have evolved into a state where relationships of all sorts are commodities. When he damages his animatronic wife, Cherry 2000, he hires E. Johnson (Melanie Griffith), to guide him across a dangerous apocalyptic wasteland to an abandoned manufacturing warehouse where he hopes to find a duplicate model. Driving through the desert, they encounter Lester, the tyrannical overlord of the wasteland, before they manage to escape from him and his henchmen. Along their journey, Sam discovers that the perfect woman is real flesh and blood.

I know, it's called Cherry 2000 but takes place in 2017. Honestly, if that sort of detail trips you up, you are going to have a long road ahead of you with this one.

So sit back and enjoy the laughs as The Cult Film Showdown talks more about sex bots in one episode than all the other episodes combined!

These are the days of futures past as The Cult Film Showdown looks into the World of Tomorrow with Omega Cop! This season the team looks at films that took place in a distant future that is now our past! (Trust us, it will make sense).

In the year 1999, the world is in the midst of an environmental holocaust, the result of a series of solar flares which have scorched the Earth for the last 30 years. Exposure to the flares results in a radiation poisoning which causes the affected to degenerate into psychotic killers. The vast majority of the world's population is dead, the world is desolate and arid, and in the United States the government and military now only control New York City and Washington DC.

Otherwise, what is left of humanity is divided between militarized encampments protecting pockets of the unaffected survivors, and roving groups of slavers and scavengers. Unradiated water, gasoline and women have become precious resources which the surviving groups hoard jealously and are willing to kill to obtain.

So sit back and enjoy the laughs as The Cult Film Showdown spends most of their time talking about Omega Cop's gruff boss played by TV's Adam West!
