Today on Culture Clique we learn about pop up shops and streetwear from Max Hayden and Parker Peterson, creators of local streetwear line Mauxvelli. They recently had a pop up shop at Treedome in downtown Winona. Through our conversation, I found that pop up shops and even fashion itself aren’t always about money. In fact, for these two young entrepreneurs its all about building community. I’m Bill Stoneberg with Max Hayden and Parker Peterson, creators of Mauxvellit streetwear on Culture Clique.

Living in a river town like Winona means plenty of opportunities for enjoying the outdoors and viewing a variety of wildlife. Whether you like to hike the local trails, kayak the backwaters of the Mississippi, or enjoy some time in Levee park, Winona has something to offer for everyone. But living on the river next to such natural beauty also means that we must be good stewards and take care of the natural resources around us. The city of Winona has an agreement with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife service to do just that in an area called Aghaming Park and Reserve. Aghaming is enjoyed by many for fishing, kayaking or canoeing and it is especially good for birding. Today we hear from Richie Swanson, president of the Winona Bird Club about Aghaming Park and Reserve and the agreement between the city and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife service. I’m Bill Stoneberg with president of the Winona Bird Club Richie Swanson, on Culture Clique.

The bluffs around the Mississippi River in southeast Minnesota are a beautiful place to live. The bluff country is full of beautiful scenery and wildlife and is even home to some threatened species and one of those species has been getting a lot of attention lately. That species is the timber rattlesnake. There has been an increased number of reports of timber rattlers in the bluffs around Winona. So many in fact, that the city of Winona held a public meeting with MN DNR officials to discuss the issue. I spoke with Nongame Wildlife Specialist Michael Worland from the MN DNR to find out a little more about timber rattlers and what to do if you encounter one. I’m Bill Stoneberg, with Nongame Wildlife Specialist Michael Worland on Culture Clique.

Mosquitos, ticks and gnats, oh my! Its that time of year again when pesky bugs are out to hamper your good time in the summer. But who wants that greasy smelly bugspray full of DEET all over your body? And what if you have sensitive skin? Or you don’t want your children covered in chemicals… Thankfully, there are all natural alternatives out there. On today’s Culture Clique we go to Bluff Country Co-op to talk to Hailey Beeman about making your own insect repellent. Hailey is a supplement and body care assistant at the co-op, or as she likes to say, she’s a body love assistant. Because you need to love your body inside and out. Hailey and I talked about some of the benefits of making your own bugspray and what goes into it. With the right ingredients it’s really quite easy to do. I’m Bill Stoneberg, with Hailey Beeman on Culture Clique.
