Welcome to Season 3 of Culture Crux with Dr. James Runcorn. Leading up to Season 3 Dr. Runcorn has interviewed people with a diversity of backgrounds, faiths, experiences, and hardships. On Episode 1 of Season 3 Dr. Runcorn sits down with Pastor Joe Stepp, who is a Watersprings High School Bible Instructor and an Associate Pastor of Watersprings Church. Pastor Joe's story is very intriguing and extremely powerful. He grew up in a single-parent home...not because of divorce but because his dad passed away when Joe was 2 years old. His family was left with many questions and little to no answers after that heart wrenching morning of discovery. Joe grew up loving sports, particularly football, and quickly learned that football gave him abilities to grow in, develop, and achieve something greater. He looked to the coaches, and other father-figures, in his life to help him understand his purpose. At the young age of 17 Joe gave his life to Jesus Christ, and his life has never been the same. Listen as Pastor Joe talks about his life growing up, his hardships, his heartaches, and most importantly his testimony of Jesus Christ. You won't hear Joe complain about anything in his life. He knows and understands what the blood of Jesus Christ did, has done, and will continue to do for his life, his family, and everyone else who proclaims Him as their Lord and Savior.

Gary is an atheist. Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily, because as Christians we're commanded to love ALL people. Is it sad? Absolutely! Gary still has a lot of pain, hurt, and anger built up within himself. This is all evident in the things he says and how he explains his experiences with religion. Dr. Runcorn introduces yet another brave person who is willing to share their story. Gary didn't wake up one day and decide that he no longer believed in a God. There were steps that he took along his path of life that led him to where he is today. As with many of Dr. Runcorn's guests, Gary struggled with toxic shame and shame itself. There was abuse in his home growing up, both physical and sexual, and coming from a large Mormon family who lived in a dominant Catholic area was no easy task as a young kid. Once again, shame or embarrassment keeps us from sharing with others, especially by the use of a podcast, but Gary is willing to share through the pain.

Kelly steps out of his comfort zone in sharing his journey with Dr. Runcorn. We may sometimes think to ourselves that it's easier on us if we stay in the background and don't share our testimony or journey with others. In Kelly's case that rang very true for a long time. Sharing his journey and thoughts today is a really big step in Kelly's life. Shame or embarrassment keeps us from sharing with others, especially by the use of a podcast, but Kelly is getting stronger and stronger in his faith with Jesus Christ, and it shows.

Very few people have heard the full story of Pastor Shane and his walk to Gethsemane. Parts of his story are difficult to hear, but perhaps that's because many people, including myself, can relate to his emotions, struggles, alcoholism, abuse, etc., and not in that order or of any relevance to some. Pastor Shane had so much to bear and so much weight to carry at a younger age that he wasn't sure what to do with the stresses of life and the consequences of others. As he grew up and moved to Idaho from California it was supposed to be a re-start. A new life. A difference.

Dr. Runcorn, as host of Culture Crux, introduces his recently published book "The Blog of A Forgiven Cheater." All of us make mistakes and/or sin, and all of us have consequences for those mistakes and/or sin. The length of time that we must suffer from those consequences is not part of our choice to make a mistake and/or sin. When Dr. Runcorn approached his wife with everything he had been doing in sin, he could see the pain in her eyes from what he had just dumped on her. She looked at him and said, "I forgive you! Let's work through this." His wife wasn't saying in the least, "It's okay what you've done. I'm alright." No, she was full of hurt and forgave him for herself. It wasn't an easy trek for him to restore trust. It also wasn't an easy trek for her to allow him "back in". It took some time. Coming back from sin and/or mistakes or bad choices that we have made takes time, but it's worth it, as Dr. Runcorn explains going through emotions, heartache, frustration, self-doubt, toxic shame, and lack of self-love. It's evident the love Dr. Runcorn has for his wife and kids is worth everything!

Part 2 of the conversation between Rhett, who is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and Dr. James Runcorn. There are times during the conversation in which Rhett apologizes for not being able to articulate his exact view point, but what's important to note is that Rhett does do very well at explaining his heart toward his faith in the LDS church. It's also important to note that it is imperative that Rhett is a believer and follower of Jesus Christ, and it's through the LDS faith that he chooses to live. This is in no way to shame Rhett, because that's not the purpose of Culture Crux, but it's wanting to understand Rhett and his faith.

Dr. James Runcorn respectively continues his conversation with Rhett so that you too can form your own opinion of what is important and what isn't when it comes to faith in Jesus Christ.

Rhett is a member of the LDS Church, or known as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and Dr. Runcorn creates a safe environment for him and Rhett to have a conversation about who and what the LDS are. Some of the questions from Dr. Runcorn are bold, and Rhett is candid in his responses. Knowing a little, and having run-ins with the "Mormons", helps Dr. Runcorn know what questions to ask, but it also sparks curiosity in what Dr. Runcorn has witnessed or heard about the LDS. The Idaho Falls area is largely LDS, and Rhett was born and raised in the LDS faith. He doesn't know anything different. His position at EastIdahoNews.com includes reporting on Faith and Religion from around the region, so it was a great opportunity to have Rhett on the podcast to share his thoughts on the faith he belongs to.

Dr. Runcorn, as host of Culture Crux, introduces Season 2 and talks about the purpose and design of Culture Crux. Dr. Runcorn knows and understands that everyone has a story. Some people, especially those who hold a position of authority, a Pastor, an executive, or even a manager/supervisor may appear to have everything together in their life. The truth is, everybody has struggled at some point in their life to get where and what they are today. Season 2 is poised to be even better then the introductory season. Some guests from Season 1 will return to share more of their thoughts and story. Of course, there will be new guests and new discussions.
