Independence Day in the Philippines is on June 12. To mark the occasion, Clark County has produced a new episode of its "Cultures of Las Vegas" series. "Cultures of Las Vegas: the Fillipinos" takes a look at their impact on Las Vegas culture and their strong sense of community.
“Cultures of Las Vegas: The Thais” focuses on the history and growth of the local Thai community, Thai cultural influence on the younger generation and Thai food, then and now. This show, part of a continuing series focusing on Las Vegas cultures, was produced by the Clark County Office of Public Communications & Clark County Television to coincide with Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
“The Legacy, The History: Celebrating Black History Month,” is the newest episode in our Cultures of Las Vegas series . It's moderated by Clark County Commissioner William McCurdy. It featur3s 4 leaders of our local African American Community.
November is Native American Heritage Month. As part of our continuing series, Clark County presents "Cultures of Las Vegas: the Native Americans." This look at this vibrant part of the Las Vegas community. The show was guest moderated by KSNV Channel 3’s Max Darrow.
The German community of Las Vegas is in the spotlight in the newest episode of our "Cultures of Las Vegas" series. The moderator is Tom Hawley of KSNV Channel 3. October is German-American Heritage Month. The 2010 Census reported that there are nearly 270,000 people in Las Vegas of German heritage in Las Vegas and Clark County.
The vibrant Mexican community of Las Vegas is the focus of latest episode of our "Cultures of Las Vegas" series. The moderator is Fox 5’s Maria Silva, the show features Irma Varela, founder of the Life in Death: Day of the Dead Festival: Nathalie Martinez, UNLV undergraduate research assistant responsible for the UNLV Latinx Voices project; author, educator and activist Tom Rodriguez; and Maria Guadalupe Gil, owner of Casa Don Juan restaurant. Mexico's Independence Day is Sept. 16.
“Cultures of Las Vegas: The Indians” is a showcase of the vibrant Indian community of Las Vegas. The moderator is 8 News Now’s Orko Manna. The show features a discussion of food, cultures and Indian customs. India’s Independence Day is Aug. 15.
Guest moderated by KSNV Channel 3’s Chloe Beardsley, "Cultures of Las Vegas: the French" is a discussion of all things French in the Las Vegas Valley and beyond. This show was produced in conjunction with French-American Heritage Month, which is in July. France’s national day, Bastille Day, is July 14.
Guest moderated by 8 News Now Investigative Reporter George Knapp, “Cultures of Las Vegas: The Irish” features Terry Murphy, former Honorary Consul of Ireland for Nevada; Diana Kenney Toogood, So. Nevada Sons & Daughters of Erin, Brian McMullan, owner of McMullan’s Irish Pub, and Dr. Cian McMahon, an author who holds appointments in the departments of History and Honors College at UNLV. This show was produced to coincide with St. Patrick’s Day and Irish Heritage Month.

This show coincides with the Lunar New Year, or “Chinese New Year,” on Jan. 25. 2020 is the Year of the Rat.
