​One of my favorite stories about submission reminds us that it’s possible to obey without submitting. Obedience is an outward action, while submission is an inward attitude. God calls us not just to obey, but also to submit. A mother ordered her disobedient son to sit in a corner. ​There is an old gag where someone leads another person to a particular place by saying, "Walk this way." Then, the person leading walks in an unusual fashion and the person following mimics their every move. When confronted, they say, "You said to walk this way!" All kidding aside, our passage this week tells us to walk a certain way for the good of our relationship with Christ and with others. ​When you read certain authors,you get to know how they think and how their writings flow. The same can be said for Biblical authors especially within the context of a particular book. This is also true of Paul's letter to the Ephesians. Paul's formula, if you will, is God did "X" to fix what sin broke, now "Y" is also true.
