Wanting to care for the people you love is healthy. It's even normal to, at times, sacrifice your own needs for the sake of others. But what happens when this becomes a habit and your own well-being is consistently overshadowed by the well-being of the other person in the relationship?
"Codependency" is a term used to describe relationships where one person is "the giver," constantly sacrificing their own needs for "the taker." Codependency can show up just about anywhere - in romantic relationships, friendships, family, and even at work.
In this Cup of Joy, we discuss what codependent relationships look like on a spectrum, how to identify if you're in one, and how to go about creating more mutually respectful relationships at work and beyond.
