  • Outside The Rack #54- Sean Fantuzzi
“If you’re not spending time with the people that mean the most to you and make you a better person you’re not going to enjoy what you’re getting into.”

What’s up everybody and welcome the 54th episode of Outside The Rack brought to you by Kinetic Performance the makers of Gymaware. In this show we are going to try to dive a little deeper into the minds of the top practitioners in the world of sport performance to learn a bit more about who they actually are and how they got to where they are at today. Today we are joined by THE Get Awesome Coach at Life Time Athletic in King of Prussia Sean Fantuzzi. Sean, thanks for being with us today.

Before we start, who is Sean Fantuzzi?

He wears a lot of hats, a husband, a sub par athlete, a coach, and an eternal optimist.

    1) Describe a learning situation that brought about an epiphany in your career

The decision to leave collegiate athletics because it gave him more time.

    2) If you could ask one question and you know you would get the answer what would that be and why?

How to objectively measure the performance of a strength coach? And what is strong enough?

    3) What’s your escape?

    I’m a huge Marvel nerd.

  • Episode 252- Sean Smith- Growing and Mentoring Coaches
“You realize what you don’t know pretty quick.”

“We are going to put them into situations where there is forced growth.”

This episode of The Podcast is brought to you by Exxentric, the makers of the kBox and kPulley. Exxentric is the world leader in fly wheel training technology providing multiple pieces to fit your budget and needs to better serve your athletes. Recently I had the opportunity to sit down with Sean Smith to discuss his voyage’s impact on the the coaching development program at Louisville. The mentorship program at Louisville is all encompassing for the young coaches, bringing them to the field, the coaches offices, and to meet with sports med, sports psych, and senior administration so these young coaches truly understand what the day in and day outs of being a performance coach are. He shares with us the thoughts behind these meeting and how they prepare the mentees for them so that they can best communicate to those different groups. We finish off discussing his work with volleyball at U of L, and how that has evolved in his tenure with The Cards.

We are hoping to provide the best possible content for strength coaches with each of our shows. If feel this could provide value for anyone else in the strength and conditioning field please feel free to share
