  • Outside The Rack #57- Dr. Aaron Heishman
“If you don’t have a question you’re not engaged in the process.”

What’s up everybody and welcome the 57th episode of Outside The Rack brought to you by Kinetic Performance the makers of Gymaware. In this show we are going to try to dive a little deeper into the minds of the top practitioners in the world of sport performance to learn a bit more about who they actually are and how they got to where they are at today. Today we are joined by the Assistant Director of Basketball Performance and a Sport Scientist at Oklahoma University, Dr. Aaron Heishman. Doc, thanks for being with us today.

Before we start, who is Dr. Aaron Heishman?

I think of myself as a coach, secondly as a scientist and researcher, and a committed life long learner.

    1) Describe a learning situation that brought about an epiphany in your career

Not knowing an answer to a question Day 1 at UVA under Mike Curtis made him understand knowledge is about understanding the process.

    2) If you could ask one question and you know you would get the answer what would that be and why?

What needs to happen to improve the equality in the marginalized groups?
What would be the key factors to maximize the ability to predict injury?

    3) What’s your escape?

A cup of coffee in the morning and some quiet time, or reading and just thinking about things.
