  • Revenge Porn- what is it if it’s not a sexual offence?

Today I’m joined by Laura Higgins, Operations manager of the revenge porn helpline.

Laura discusses what revenge porn is and isn’t and why this is such a difficult topic to operationalise. (Sorry a slight academic term there which means to be able to state and test robustly a proposition, it’s one of my favourite words so I’m not really that sorry).

We discuss the varying forms this issue takes and why this is not gender specific, we look at the impact on a victim and what can be done about images/videos shared without consent.

Here is the article Laura refers to

  • The shadow side of human nature - Dark, Hidden or Deep; where the web is spun?

The topic that can create horror, distain or curiosity. Either way we’re going onto the world of full time buisness people who often work in the realms or depths of a world wide market that many of us do not visit.

Our conversation is fluid, candid and matter of fact as Gary and I are colleagues and friends outside of the podcast world so our conversation borders on chit chat around a difficult topic and in light of this listeners/viewers may find our approach less than journalistic,  and it’s meant to be unjournalistic (by the way I’m making that word a thing) , this is a reflection of the world that exists that many people are shocked by, don’t understand and have no experience of so we tell it as it is through our work in this realm. (Those of you listening on iTunes may well enjoy the video as there’s plenty of non verbal reflections on there that get missed by audio..just say

  • GDP Arghhhhh #Don'tbeaGit
Today I'm joined by a self confessed Nerd and Anorak in all things data protection. Yes its that four letter word that you've been seeing in your mailbox for some time. This is another full on say it as it is episode and talks real data and why you need to know this.
We discuss the unwanted/unsolicited emails, we talk consent and evidence of consent, overkill in terms of the numbers of emails and marketing ploys, not ticking boxes and looking at the bigger picture

  • Why email security is so much more than GDPR compliance
Today I’m joined by Mike Roberts of Frama RMail. A product that is so much more than an encryption tool.
This product is one I personally use and todays discussion reveals why.
After many recent contacts and questions about GDPR compliance I thought it was a timely episode. This is based on the back of a number of unsecured and sensitive emails I receive regarding some of my clients and their issues from Organisations and Schools no less.

  • Security, Consent and Online Manipulation
Today I'm joined by Justin Sherman once again.
As the podcast was recorded a week before the recent ICO discussion on some of the issues in cyberspace we may be feeling slightly ahead of the game this week and for further information go back to our last episode too!
This time we are discussing consent in terms and conditions, privacy and security issues and how would anyone know whether really understand what we are signing up for and much more

  • Onlinesafety for Foster carers, why the unknown past can be in the here and now
Today I'm joined by Lynn Findlay. We go into why foster carers can be presented with some much more complicated issues around online safeguarding compared to families where children are either natural or families who have adoptees. We discuss parenting styles in terms of digital devices and our approach to them and we have quite a bit of discussion about the impact of some of the behaviours of the families with children who are fostered.
