"It never would have worked. I mean, unless I tried or something." - Daria Morgendorffer
"The most extraordinary thing about Daria is that she is herself, period. She is brainy and she accepts that. She looks geeky and she also accepts that. In a culture that tries to mold everyone into the same high-achiever, extrovert, permanently peppy transmitter of positive vibes, Daria reminds us that just being yourself and doing what you love, is good enough. And if you’re lucky it might not require so much effort either." - CHRISA THEODORAKI

Oh, shit! I didn't expect anyone to show up to be honest.
Good to see you again! Thanx for rejoining the chaos!
How's 'bout I shut up and we get to it, huh?

The first Give 'Em The Boot compilation (Hellcat Records - 1997) was a big deal for me. Exposed me to lots of punk music and bands that I would follow for years, but what had a bigger impact on me was the ska I discovered on that album. The Skatalites, Hepcat, The Slackers... All huge bands that had a major influence on my life.
Amongst those greats, and what stuck with me most at age 10 or 12, was the last song on the album, "Playtime" by Dave Hillyard & The Rocksteady 7.
It made appreciate and respect instrumental songs, it made me want to explore jazz in a new weird-ass way, and it made me want to be a musician more than any punk song I'd ever heard.
So turn it up and dance like a kid! And cheers to the Rude Boys, Skinheads, Punks, and the ones still searching for that song!

Well, here we are... The last episode, crazy.
This was kinda made as a Christmas present to the state of California, the city of Los Angeles, and the San Fernando Valley. My city, my home. Not every band is from California, but she was in their hearts or up their ass when they wrote these songs.
So here's to Cali and all the homies... Pints up! It's time to circle pit!!

"I'm still a really big music fan, and this is what sustains me. I'm not a drug addict, I'm not religious, music is my higher power, and I never know what's coming next. I never get tired of it, because if I've never heard it before, even if it was recorded 20 years before I was born, it's still new to me. I can't understand people who just listen to the same stuff over and over, year after year. I never run out of ideas, and I never run out of stuff I like to listen to."

This episode is unofficially the chill episode. Mostly mid-tempo punk. Good for a picnic or day drinkin'. Maybe a fast one here or there to keep you awake. No theme, no politics, no sense, just a good time.

I put this together the week leading up to the 2020 Presidential Election. Strange and stressful daze. So bust out the Xanax and anti-depressants 'cuz it's about to get awkward around the dinner table. And, most importantly, always remember....
"Just because you're offended, doesn't mean you're right."

"If the only thing keeping a person decent is the expectation of divine reward then brother that person is a piece of shit. And I’d like to get as many of them out in the open as possible."
-Rust Cohle
Not a whole lot to say about this one. Got fucked up while rewatching Season 1 of True Detective and thought the shit that McConaughey says was pure gold, so I went through his entire career looking for other gems. Here's to the "Ladies of Tampa."

Some songs fuckin' nail a time, a place, a pain, a stench, a love, a hate, a craving for tacos... Songs are just fuckin’ like that.
"And for in that moment of pure darkness, I see your soul shining brighter than it ever has. I love the weirdness in you and the gentle way you make me go insane." - Jordan Sarah Weatherhead
This one's for the lovers and the bass players. Hang tough. Everybody's fucked, but you're, like, really fucked.
