One of the oft-used premises for alternative history buffs, the potential for a Confederate States of America that survives the Civil War and lasts into the 20th Century opens up a world of historical differences.

When the Americans, British, and Canadian forces secured the beachheads of Normandy on June 6, 1944, it opened up a second front in the war against Nazi Germany and her Axis Powers, ensuring the eventual destruction of the Nazi war machine that had ravaged Europe for five years.

But what if D-Day had failed, and the Allies had not gained a foothold in northern France?

We discuss some possibilities and the consequences of such a massive defeat in June of 1944.
