Part 1: Baby number two is on the way! How does Brendan balance family life as his new business takes off, as demand for his alternative coffee grows. Rich in flavour and full of goodness it has all the ingredients of his parenting style but this family of three (plus dogs!) is about to become a family of four. The clock is ticking as the birth of their new child grows closer. Brendan maintains his calm exterior but inside is he panicking? Perhaps his new product Raven Roast really is the secret to calming the nerves? He's just "in the pocket" so why not have another kid? The first kid might break you but once you are "in the pocket" the second kid doesn't seem so scary. Right?
Brendan talks about transitioning into parenting and accepting the grief of giving up your old life. What happens if you resist the transition and what impact will this have on your relationship with your partner?
Topics include: building a career, valuing the non-paid work in the home, and finding the right location to have kids, timing is everything, the importance of therapy for the mind and the body, environmental concerns when choosing where to raise your family, amongst other things...
Part 2: Emotional connection to our work and the impact that has on our kids - a great discussion with Todd Kettner our in house psychologist. Career vs Job, finding your passion and the portfolio of life.
