Saul shot with an arrow in battle but refuses to have his life taken by a Philistines, so he kills himself. David named king of Judah and rules 7 1/2 years. Abner envisions David as king over all Israel. David anointed as King of Israel and ruled over both Israel and Judah for 33 years. David lusts after Bath-sheba; she gets pregnant, and David has her husband killed so he can have her for herself. God is not pleased, and Nathan says David will pay for his sin; David and Bath-sheba's child dies soon after. Amnon rapes half-sister Tamar; half-brother Absalom (son of David) kills Amnon, flees, amasses a force, and plans to take Jerusalem.
