God instructs Israel not to build a nice altar or put it up on a high place. God is different, holy, from the other so-called gods. He actually has our best interest in mind.

The people saw the manifestations of God and were afraid. Moses encourages them. Do not be afraid. God is not here to kill you. Instead, He is here for your good.
