Psalms 13:3-4 (Spurgeon's Abridged Commentary).

Consider and hear me, O Lord my God. Lighten my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death.

Lest my enemy say I have prevailed against him, and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.

How long will You forget me, O Lord? Forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?

How long will I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? How long will my enemy be exalted over me?

For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, says the Lord. I will set him in safety from him that puffs at him.

The words of the Lord are pure words, as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

You will keep them, O Lord. You will preserve them from this generation forever.

The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.

Help Lord, for the godly man ceases, for the faithful fail from among the children of man.

They speak vanity every one with his neighbor. With flattering lips and with a double heart they speak.

The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips and the tongue that speaks proud things,

Who have said, "With our tongue will we prevail. Our lips are our own. Who is lord over us?"

The Lord is in His holy temple; the Lord's throne is in heaven. His eyes see, his eyelids try the children of men.

The Lord tries the righteous, but the wicked and him that loves violence his soul hates.

Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire, and brimstone, and a horrible tempest. This shlal be the portion of their cup.

For the righteous Lord loves righteousness. His countenance does behold the upright.

Psalms 11:1-3 (Spurgeon's Abridged Commentary).

In the Lord I put my trust. How can you say to my soul, "Flee as a bird to your mountain?"

For, lo, the wicked bend their bow; they make ready their arrow upon the string that they may shoot at the upright in heart.

If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?

Psalms 10:12-18 (Spurgeon's Abridged Commentary).

Arise O Lord; O God, lift up Your hand. Forget not the humble.

Wherefore does the wicked condemn god? He has said in his heart, "You will not require it."

You have seen it; for You behold mischief and spite, to requite it with Your hand. The poor commits himself to You. You are the helper of the fatherless.

Break the arm of the wicked and the evil man. Seek out his wickedness until you find none.

The Lord is King forever and ever. The heathen are perished out of his land.

Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble. You will prepare their heart. You will cause Your ear to hear to judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress.

Psalms 10:5-11 (Spurgeon's Abridged Commentary).

His ways are always grievous; Your judgments are far above out of his sight. As for all his enemies, he puffs at them.

He has said in his heart, I shall not be moved, for I shall never be in adversity.

His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud. Under his tongue is mischief and vanity.

He sits in the lurking places of the villages. In the secret places, he does murder the innocent; his eyes are set privily against the poor.

He lies in wait secretly as a lion in his den. He lies in wait to catch the poor; he does catch the poor when he draws him into his net.

He crouches and humbles himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.

He has said in his heart, "God has forgotten. He hides his face; He will never see it."

Why do You stand afar off, O Lord? Why do you hide Yourself in times of trouble? The wicked in his pride does persecute the poor. Let them be taken by the devices that they have imagined. For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire, and blesses the covetous, who the Lord abhors. The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God. God is not in all his thoughts.

Psalms 9:13-20 (Spurgeon's Abridged Commentary).

Have mercy upon me, O Lord. Consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, You who lift me up from the gates of death.

The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made; in the net which they hid is their own foot taken. The Lord is known by the judgement which he executes. The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands.

The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. For the needy shall not always be forgotten. The expectation of the poor shall not perish forever.

Arise, O Lord, let not man prevail. Let the heathen be judged in this sight. Put them in fear, O Lord, that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah.
