Psalms 6:1-4 (Spurgeon’s Commentary). O LORD, rebuke me not in your anger, neither chasten me in your hot displeasure. Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak. O LORD, heal me for my bones are vexed. My soul is also sore vexed, but You, O LORD, how long? Return, O LORD, deliver my soul. Oh save me for Your mercies’ sake.

Psalms 5:8-12 (Spurgeon’s Commentary). Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; make Your way straight before my face. For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulcher: They flatter with their tongue. Destroy them, O God. Let them fall by their own counsels. Cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions, for they have rebelled against You. But let all those that put their trust in You rejoice. Let them ever shout for joy, because You defended them. Let them also that love Your name be joyful in You, for You Lord will bless the righteous. With favor will you encompass him as with a shield.

Psalms 5:4-7 (Spurgeon’s Commentary). For You are not a God that has pleasure in wickedness; neither shall evil dwell with You. The foolish will not stand in Your sight. You hate all workers of iniquity. You will destroy them that speak leasing (lies). The Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man. But as for me, I will come into Your house in the multitude of Your mercy, and in Your fear will I worship toward Your holy temple.

Psalms 5:1-3 (Spurgeon’s Commentary. Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation. Hearten to the voice of my cry, my King, and my God, for unto you will I pray. My voice will you hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto you, and will look up.

Psalms 4:5-8 (Spurgeon’s Commentary). Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord. There be many that say, “Who will show us any good?” Lord, lift up the light of your countenance upon us. You have put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased. I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for you, Lord, only make me dwell in safety.

Psalms 4:1-4 (Spurgeon’s Commentary). Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: you have enlarged me when I was in distress, have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer. O you sons of men, how long will you turn my glory into shame? How long will you love vanity and seek after leasing? Selah. But know that the Lord has set apart him that is godly for Himself. The Lord will hear when I call to Him. Stand in awe, and sin not. Commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

Psalms 3:5-8 (Spurgeon’s Commentary). I laid me down and slept; I awoke; for the Lord sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about. Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God, for You have smitten all my enemies upon the cheek bone. You have broken the teeth of the ungodly. Salvation belongs to the Lord. Your blessing is upon Your people. Selah.

Psalms 3:1-4 (Spurgeon’s Commentary). Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! Many are they that rise up against me. Many there be which say of my soul, “There is no help for him in God.” Selah. But you, O Lord, are a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of my head. I cried to the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

Psalms 2:4-12 (Spurgeon’s Commentary). He that sits in the heavens shall laugh.: The Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak to them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure. Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: the Lord has said unto me, You are my son; this day have I begotten you. Ask of me, and I will give you the heathen for your inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession. You will break them with a rod of iron; you will dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel. Be wise now therefore, O you kings: be instructed, you judges of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish from the way, when his earth is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

Psalms 1:6-2:3 (Spurgeon’s Commentary). For the Lord knows the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish. Why do the heathens rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying: Let us break their bands asunder and cast away their cords from us.
