The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced 17 nominees for 2026: The Black Crowes; Jeff Buckley; Mariah Carey; Phil Collins; Melissa Etheridge; Lauryn Hill; Billy Idol; INXS; Iron Maiden; Joy Division/New Order; New Edition; Oasis; P!NK; Sade; Shakira; Luther Vandross; Wu-Tang Clan.


Salt-N-Pepa and DJ Spinderella will be inducted into the NAACP Image Awards Hall of Fame, recognizing their hip-hop legacy. Hosted by Deon Cole, the ceremony will also honor Colman Domingo (President’s Award) and Viola Davis (Chairman’s Award).


Dr. Najja Baptist’s new book, “In the Spirit, In the Dark: Black Music and Political Activism,” examines how blues, jazz, and hip hop powered Black political movements. Baptist, director of African and African American studies at the University of Arkansas, launches the book Saturday in Springdale.


Alan Jackson will play his final live show June 27, 2026, at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium, ending a 40-year touring career to focus on health and family.


Google has acquired AI music startup ProducerAI, evolved from Riffusion, to expand its Google Labs tools. Powered by Google’s Lyria 3 model, the platform lets users create and refine music with detailed control.


Iron Maiden’s documentary “Burning Ambition,” directed by Malcolm Venville, hits cinemas May 7. The film features interviews with the band and contributors including Javier Bardem, Lars Ulrich, and Chuck D.


Luke Combs and Ella Langley debut in the top three of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. “Be By You” opens at No. 2 with 13.6M streams; “Be Her” starts at No. 3 with 12.1M. Only 49 songs have premiered in the top three since 1958.


Dead Kennedys will not book future Punk In The Park dates after learning the promoter’s owner donated to Trump’s 2024 campaign, but will honor existing commitments.
