2 Corinthians 4:8–9 — “Hard Pressed but Not Crushed” Prayer for the Persecuted Church in IRAN, AFGHANISTAN, ERITREA, and SUDAN
2 Corinthians 4:8–9 (NIV) “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” Recorded live here in London, England with Reverend Ben Cooper
Across the underground church believers worship under threat, surveillance, intimidation, and violence. From IRAN to AFGHANISTAN, from ERITREA to SUDAN, and from London to the hidden corners of persecuted regions, millions stand firm in Christ where following Jesus costs everything. This scripture remains one of the most recited passages among persecuted believers because it confronts suffering with unbreakable hope. Although they are hunted, silenced, imprisoned, or displaced, God has not abandoned them. His presence remains stronger than every chain, every wall, every accusation, and every threat. Today we lift our brothers and sisters who gather secretly, whisper prayers in locked rooms, worship in remote villages, and share the gospel at great personal risk. May the Holy Spirit strengthen them beyond human endurance and surround them with supernatural courage.
Prayer Points Prayer for protection over secret believers, prayer for courage in underground gatherings, prayer for strength for prisoners of faith, prayer for endurance under interrogation, prayer for safety over hidden churches, prayer for hope in isolation, prayer for bold witness in danger, prayer for provision for displaced families, prayer for the gospel to advance under pressure, prayer for God’s presence to sustain persecuted believers
Life Application Remember persecuted believers today and speak 2 Corinthians 4:8–9 in solidarity with them. Let their courage inspire your faith and shape your intercession.
Declaration I declare that persecuted believers are not crushed, not abandoned, and not destroyed, for God upholds them with unshakeable strength.
