Daily Puck Drop, Wed., June 18 - Are the Mariners really all in?

Listen Later

On today’s Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett is riding solo because the Go-2-Guy Jim Moore canceled with no explanation and Puck is worried about him :) !   Not to worry, Puck’s weekly guest, MLB Insider Ryan Divish joins him from Havre, Montana where he currently is coaching his stepsons baseball team the Havre Northstars and taking a sabbatical from the paper.

Puck opens the show discussing last night’s Mariners win and gushes over the performance of Bryan Woo, the ongoing incredible season of Cal Raleigh and the recent surge from Cole Young.  Puck warns Sonics fans about Thursday because it’s going to be painful to watch Oklahoma City raise the NBA Championship trophy in Indiana.  It will be yet another twist of the knife for longtime fans to watch the former Super Sonics franchise win a title.

Puck moves on and welcomes Ryan Divish, MLB Insider to the show for his weekly chat talking all things Mariners baseball.  Divish opens up the segment discussing how he almost was thrown out of a game the other day after he threw his helmet in disgust over a call that was overturned.  Once Divish is done complaining about the umpire, he switches to the recent play of the Mariners and it appears they have righted the ship since coming back from their disastrous road trip.  They discuss the Mariners offense and reliance on the home run and how that at times can be problematic for the.  Puck and Divish have a deep dive into Julio Rodriguez and Divish, who has covered Julio since the day he broke into the majors, offers terrific insight into the young player who has the ability and has yet to reach his superstar potential.  Divish also explains why the Mariners were not in on the Rafael Devers trade talk.  Speaking of trades, what about Josh Naylor from Arizona?  Lastly, Cole Young starting to round into form.

Finally, Puck wraps up the show with, “Hey, What the Puck!?”  Why weren’t the Mariners more active in getting Rafael Devers from Boston?
