I looked up the paper for this—the collaborative spiders in the cave are solitary spiders on the surface.

If you only experienced them in the cave or on the surface, you would come to different conclusions about them...

Environments matter for talent.

Interesting thought experiment that I do not believe holds up well.

However, I do like how it emphasizes focusing on the present.

Even when you find something you disagree on, you can still learn something.

I do not believe this is Noah’s Ark (but I do believe it was real).

My theory is that Christians who lived in this area thousands of years ago had something to do with this possible “mound” monument.

Very interesting points on the topic of “clean” (and “Christian”) art.

A topic itself is not clean or dirty—it’s how we present it. What if we, as Christians, created art that is excellent and deals with topics we deal with as humans? Would that not be an opportunity to influence on those topics?

Making predictions seems to be a basic function for experiencing the world. We do this by default.

I would then assume we all have filters (perspectives) by default. I wonder if we can choose our default filters? (I feel like we can.)

At the surface level, this seems obvious: Smart people with high work ethics succeed in college. What’s interesting here are the apparent expectations that didn’t hold up—but then again, with some of those, it seems outputs were confused for outcomes.

Excellent perspective. The article uses business as the context (with a lot of wisdom). And it delivers gold on the topic of regrets.

“Feeling empty after finishing a video game? Researchers say post-game depression is a real phenomenon”

You can still enjoy video games (in moderation), but you need purpose and meaning in real life.

Playing too many games is a regret of mine from years past. You logically know it’s not real, but emotionally—you’re body thinks it is (and can get addicted).

“I lived an entire life while I was in a coma and even gave birth to triplets... I was devastated that none of it was real”

It seems medically induced comas are not the same as the real thing... And your mind responds to the “dreams” you have, very differently.

“CEO Saves His Failing Company By Firing Entire HR Department”

Notice that the CEO didn’t eliminate the HR department, he just eliminated the imaginary meaning creating fake problems, and restored it to it’s needed purpose.

You can do the same in your life.
