  • Daily Reads (Livestream Experiment Day 92) - Learn to see through art, and general relativity.

Day 92 for a fun Friday!

Playing with the descriptor. May go with “Articles and more for personal innovation—through the Poetry Filter.” May stop at “innovation.”

Conversations on expressions of building skills through different types of art, plus reality.

    Articles Discussed

Art is an excellent way to build skills on noticing details, crafting a vision, and expressing it. Drawing is one way, but writing poetry, sculpting, and even photography are means to develop the same core skills.

    “Learn to See”

My question is, if these are possible, why haven’t we observed them? What else are we missing?

“‘Crystals’ of space-time could be the origins of certain rare black holes, theoretical study hints”

  • Daily Reads (Livestream Experiment Day 91) - What human nature predicts.

    Day 91 done!

A conversation on the Human Nature Filter and what it predicts...

In context of two foundational premises around needs.

    * Potential: We are created in the image of the Almighty.

    * Reality: We have a fallen sin nature.

    Articles Discussed

Very interesting article. And I love the 3 body problem metaphor.

“The Three-City Problem of Modern Life”

The Human Nature Filter predicts behavior like this.

“"The Spectrum": How Autism Was Hijacked By Narcissists”

  • Daily Reads (Livestream Experiment Day 90) - Caffeine: messaging, marketing, telling the truth.

Day 90 done; T-minus 9 streaming days until Day 100.

A conversation on caffeine influencing you…

And marketing, messaging, and telling the truth.

If we don’t seek out the truth of a gap, we risk making up lies to fill it.

    Articles Discussed

Would be interesting to learn all the ways your gut microbiome can influence you—and what all you ingest can influence your “influencers” in you.

“Scientists discover how coffee interacts with the gut microbiome to affect the human brain”

    ---

This may seem obvious to some of you, but we should never assume it is. I do believe marketing, messaging, and branding are inseparable. And as for messaging—if you don’t intentionally craft it, people craft it for you.

    “Marketing is the Message”

    ---

If you’re leading yourself or others, what are you marketing about yourself? What’s your messaging on whether or not people can feel like that can tell you what they need to—and what you need to hear?

“Why Everyone Hesitates To Tell You The Truth”

  • Daily Reads (Livestream Experiment Day 89) - Knowing what's possible; adoption and trauma.

Day 89 on adoption and God’s purpose.

Discussing an article on adoption and death.

This was by far the hardest live stream I have done. It was a struggle to keep it together. The topic is close to home and heart.

    But, there is hope!

    Article Discussed

“God sets the lonely in families,” Psalm 68:6a.

What an a legacy his daughter gifted to her family.

“I Don’t Want Likes. I Want You To Know This Is Possible.”

  • Daily Reads (Livestream Experiment Day 88) - With poet and publisher, Stephanie, of King Ari Press.

Day 88 with Stephanie of King Ari Press!

Loved the conversation with Stephanie, discussing her publishing company, poetry, and a little of her story.

Starting a publishing company was a organic fit for her, because of how she stewarded everything that fed into it.

    King Ari Press

You can follow Stephanie’s work here on Substack, on X (where she post daily writing tips), and by going to her website, where she has her own work and the work of the authors’ she’s published.

  • Daily Reads (Livestream Experiment Day 87) - Social media growth, family growth, remembering

    87 days done!

Conversations on incentives in context of social media and family.

Your incentives need to align with your systems.

Incentivize your mission—let your vision be an incentive.

    Articles

    “Some Problems with X”

Interesting article because of the emphasis on incentives. There’s a lot of opportunity still with X, but it’s good to be aware. I also wonder how X will continue to adjust.

    “I started watching SG-1 at age 15.”

Love this because of what it says about making memories with family. And then this guy repeated making those memories with his kids.Incentivize family time!

Sometimes it takes a little incentive to change the category of what you're building. You don't have to wait for the opportunity to appear—you can make your own.

  • Daily Reads (Livestream Experiment Day 86) - The human condition and John Berryman's "Dream Song 1"

86 days of Daily Reads without ending the experiment.

A conversation on human experience, with an essay on Paul Celan and a poem by John Berryman.

Also, as a side note—poetry translators are some of the most skill artists in the world.

    Articles Discussed

“Paul Celan’s Via Negativa” by Brian Patrick Eha.

I had never heard of Paul Celan before seeing this post by Joseph Massey. And yes, the essay is written beautifully.

    “Dream Song 1”

God set eternity in the hearts of men, and a poem is an attempt to reach it.

This poem by John Berryman is full of that depth of searching.

And it’s an incredible example of Feel, Flow, and Function in a work of art.

  • Daily Reads (Livestream Experiment Day 85) - Biological AI, collaborative spiders, memory illusions.

    Day 85 done!

    Conversations on:

    - Innovation that expands your imagination

    - How changing environments can change how we express talents (and counter assumptions)

    - And focusing on the present instead of illusions.

    Articles Discussed

“Human Brain Cells Grown on a Chip Level Up to Play ‘Doom’”

Besides being aware of tech advances, I always like stories of innovation like this, because I feel like it keeps our imaginations healthy in wondering what’s possible.

“An extraordinary colonial spider community in Sulfur Cave (Albania/Greece) sustained by chemoautotrophy”

I looked up the paper for this—the collaborative spiders in the cave are solitary spiders on the surface.

If you only experienced them in the cave or on the surface, you would come to different conclusions about them...

    Environments matter for talent.

“Your Memories Are Illusions, Controversial Theory Suggests—Meaning We Live in a Simulation”

Interesting thought experiment that I do not believe holds up well.

However, I do like how it emphasizes focusing on the present.

Even when you find something you disagree on, you can still learn something.

  • Daily Reads (Livestream Experiment Day 84) - Expectations for yourself, family, and leadership.

    Day 84:

Discussing expectations in relationships—in marriage, business, or leadership development. And expectations in building a growing family (or building a growing anything).

Also, what you choose to lose when you write with AI.

    Articles Discussed

"Expectations For Thee But Not For Me"

There’s principles on expectations here that are transferable to leadership, business, and work relationships.

    "The House of Foster Expands"

If they can do it, you can too. Again, transferable principles apply.

Building a growing family (or build a growing anything).

  • Daily Reads (Livestream Experiment Day 83) - Momentum, talent under pressure, ideas never shared.

Day 83 marks the start of month 5 of live streaming!

Momentum Monday: Discussing talents under pressure and ideas never shared.

Stewarding talents often means stewarding responsibility—investing in ideas that are meant to be shared to make a difference.

    Articles Discussed

"Tom Brady reveals the overlooked reason practice squad players never succeed in the NFL"

The best only want to practice with the best—it’s part of how they stay the best.

So talent isn’t in question here. It’s all internal.

"Nobody remembers the person who had good ideas and never shared them"

This is an excellent read on stewarding ideas that come from stewarding your talents.

If manage your talents well, but keep your ideas to yourself, are you living up to your potential?
